Re: Strong Petrol Smell in 6R 1.2 TSI
It can cause a number of issues. It is, as such, the crankcase breather
You can end up with lower oil pressure, crap sprayed all over the engine from oil vapour etc, unpleasant smells coming into the cabin
Its something youll want to get fixed asap.

All fixed. Took 10 minutes. Haven't started it up yet so will report back if I notice the smell anymore.

Drove to work today, no smell, car seemed smoother to drive and accelerate. Hoping this wasn't mind over matter but seems good so far!

Ash! I would have a check for what I found on mine. Exactly the same engine.Ash6R wrote:Just this morning i started to smell petrol in the car as i was driving to school and the smell got much stronger when the heater was turned on.
I tried to find if there was any wet spots on the ground if it leaked and couldn't find anything, i also revved the engine while stationary and didn't smell anything only when its moving.
I popped open the bonnet to see if any fuel is leaking from any of the lines and checked the fuel filler cap as well and found nothing, no leak or wet spots.
My dad did fill up the car last night to a full tank and thought if he overfilled it by accident that might be the problem. I checked the fuel cap again and it was perfectly dry. It also smelled of petrol just now as i was coming back from school.
Not sure what the problem could be and i haven't found any solutions online.
The car is a 62 plate Polo 6R 1.2 TSI 105PS Petrol 5Dr.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Strong Petrol Smell in 6R 1.2 TSI
Typical! Hope you get it back soon.
Sure. The part number written on the hose is 03F 103 558. I contacted a company called Trade Part Solutions (TPS)
https://tps.trade
Gave them my number plate, told them I needed the breather hose and valve.
Ordered and collected from their depot.
Hope this helps

Or, if you are not trade, and TPS only normally deal with trade enquiries, go to your local VW dealer's parts department, but do give them your reg number just in case that part is slightly different on your car.
Re: Strong Petrol Smell in 6R 1.2 TSI
I wasn't trade and they served me without any questions.
Gave over my number plate, part number and paid on the door when I went to collect.
