no. on the contrary, they fit horribly. the shape of the polo door panel does not allow the light to fit in nicely. i once ruined a perfectly nice set of door panels on it.

oh really? Ive seen there are another light fixture design as well. maybe that one fit better or both will not be perfectly fit?
what about the wiring? do u think the door module connector still have empty slots for such installation? or the wiring will be messy inside?

I made a relay switching myself, the Polo does not offer puddle light installation.

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
but if it can be wired to the footwell lights, the operation will be basically the same right?

I don't know how regular puddle lights are supposed to behave. Mine are only on if the door is open.
If you wire them to the interior lights, they will light at the same time.

yes. i just checked. the footwell will light up once we unlocked the car. which is not that clever if the warning light also light up before the door opening.
thanks iichel.

So...
LIGHT CONNECTOR DRIVER SIDE
(+) T16g/16 (J386)
(-) T8f/2 (F220/F2*)
LIGHT CONNECTOR PAX SIDE
(+) T16l/16 (J387)
(-) T8i/1 (F221/F3*)
Now..with my RHD setup, is the J386 is now consider as PAX SIDE or it is the same for RHD setup?

The diagrams are correct for both, RHD and LHD (6R 2010-2014).

I tapped the power from T16l/16 2.5 Yellow Wire and the ground connection from T8i/2 Green/White wire. All good and the light switch on by door open.
so i made some timing test to see the operation when door open too long.
1. after 5 mins - warning screen IC switch off
2. after 10mins - interior/footwell lights switch off
3. the door light still on beyond 20mins.
then i locked the car with the door open, the light still continue after 5mins which i dont know till when.
so the question now, is the yellow wire from WRM is the right place to tap the power for this light?
photo showed test with footwell light with bulb. im not sure if fitting led type door puddle with projector logo can sustain the 12v 2.5 yellow wire from WRM power.
any idea?

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
the 2,5mm wire from the WRM can have about 25-30 amps forever. don't worry about that one.
your 5W W5W light will pull about 0,5 amps.
i'd be more worried about the wire to the door lock but I think that would be OK too.
it should stay on, as long as the door is open, if the door is closed, it should go off.

Re: ciclo's Polo. R-line 1.2 TSI 90hp 119gr.
so the door puddle warning light from factory like in the golf and passat should be staying on all the time as well? i would think it shud have limit like the interior lighting by 10mins.iichel wrote:the 2,5mm wire from the WRM can have about 25-30 amps forever. don't worry about that one.

no I think the factory lights in a golf are operated by the door control module... they don't stay on forever.

ok. thank you iichel. any alternative positive power that i can consider, instead of always on WRM?iichel wrote:no I think the factory lights in a golf are operated by the door control module... they don't stay on forever.
