Yup, that is the same as the one I fitted to a BBY engined 2002 Polo years ago, they seemed to have learned something about keeping the windings cooler since the original design of EGR - nice manly cooling ribs, lovely! I was certainly impressed when I replaced it on that Polo! Though maybe I'm easily impressed!

You need success, and need it soon - just in case you didn't know!

With a car of this age it will be a never ending story.

When I fit the new EGR should I run the engine up to temp beforehand (with the old EGR, which is currently disconnected), then swap parts over and run VCDS to adapt the new EGR and throttle body (again)? Or is it OK to swap cold and run the adaptations?

Do it cold and calibrate as per

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.ph ... Adaptation

Do not start the engine till it’s calibrated

New EGR fitted and calibrated. All is well, for now.

Thanks again for your help and will post some pics of the damage I found shortly.

Here are some photos from the strip down and rebuild. I did not have a lot of time to document the whole story (mainly due to weather conditions).

The posting. The camshafts actually dont look too worn. No worse than my Mk2 Golf GTI from 28 years ago lol

Images are all fixed :)

They might not look worn but with them and the tappets the noise was too much.

Thanks for doing the images.
