Infotainment/USB port

Post by Richey44 »

VW Polo SE.

Infotainment turning itself off and on, then stays permanently off after 5 or 6 self attempts!!!

Also, USB port has no power either......both faults occurred at the same time.

Booked into the 'stealers' next Weds.

Anything I can check? Look into???

Thanks for any guidance or tips ladies and gents.

sounds like a software issue. maybe give it a hard reboot by pulling the fuses of the unit

Try long press of the power button (about 30 second) - it is hard reboot.
Check dtcs for errors. Maybe corrupted DB in headunit.

No joy with those lads, re-boot. Looks like a software issue, if anything at all.

Cheers all the same! :)

£2000! What a ridiculous price. VW will be able to buy a lot of monkeys 🐒 🐒 with that.

If you add all the replacement costs of the electrical and trim parts together it just leaves a pocketful of Euros left over to pay for the body and the oily bits.

What a rip off.

Yes, over £2k is a lot for one part......

But, fair doos, VW Priory Park in Hull have so far been fab about it all...

The new polo's look sensation and are packed with kit. I fear with so much electrics, so much more issues can occur, not just software updates!!

I briefly owned a motorcycle that could be completely dismantled with one open ended spanner and a screwdriver. No battery, no electronics and around two meters of very simple wiring. The rot seemed to set in with the Jaguar XJ40 with multiplex electrics.

I love all the gizmos and gadgets on modern cars but dread breaking down in the middle of nowhere on a dark cold and wet night with no mobile phone signal.

I know we can’t go backwards and modern legislation needs clever electronics to comply but wouldn’t it be nice to be able to put any bulb in your car without generating errors or be able to do basic troubleshooting without a lap top.

Sorry, feeling my age today and starting to look seriously at adverts for 1960-70s sports cars.

The repair has gone, well, almost well!!

Everything works apart from the USB port. It charges my phone ok, but wont access the music on my phone????

Music works fine through the Bluetooth, but not through the USB port.

Any ideas??? No changes to my phone settings, etc....
