Seat Belt Buckle Stop

Post by bvs »

Our drivers seat belt buckle stop (the little round plastic button which keeps the buckle from sliding down the belt too far when not in use) is broken and has a jagged edge.
I keep forgetting to fix it LOL
Is a universal spare stop ok ? or is it better to get a specific make ?

That happened to my wife's old 2002 Polo, I kept meaning to get another one as removing one intact from a scrap belt did not look like being easy. I'm sure that I did find them being sold on ebay but I did not save that link, sorry, so maybe take a look on there?

Hi RUM - yes there are loads for sale on ebay - but what I was asking is are the generic spare buttons ok or is it best to get a 'name' button - I am assuming it got slammed in the door at some stage but is quite sharp and if you catch it wrong it is really painful.
Just one of those little jobs I keep forgetting about :D

Same with the one of wife's old car, ie crushed but no one did it!

I don't think that you will have a choice of manufacturer, you will just need to measure your one and get one as close in size to it, well that was the way I read things when I considered sorting that out.

These are easily replaced with universal. Normally you have to melt the middle pin with a soldering iron or similar to get it to stay together

Yes thanks Alex - the cheapie stop button is not very good quality LOL - I have just 'squeezed' it up for a temp fix and at some stage I will take it round to a friends workshop to borrow his solder iron.I agree that heat is the only way to make it secure.
