Footwell RGB Lighting

Post by Danm99 »

I’ve bought a very basic rgb strip light kit off the internet but looking for the best way to install it.

It’s powered by a 12v connection to the cigarette lighter however in my polo 6r 2017 the only easy option would be to have wires trailing everywhere and I won’t do that.

What’s the best way? I was thinking is it possible to connect it directly to the fuse box rather than the cigarette lighter as that isn’t used anyway. Or how difficult is it to take apart the Center console to makes holes for the cables to go through and use the 12v in my car?

Has anyone done this or are there any easier kits online?

Where you take the 12V will depend on how you want the LED to function.
Ignition on = RGB on
Headlights on = RGB on
etc.

Preferably ignition on as it comes with a remote that has and on and off button.

Well in that case, just pick a slot in the Polo 6R fuse box that says 15 in the right column at Fuse holder B (below steering wheel):

Thank you, but I’m a bit new to the whole electrical works, when I look at my fuse box under the steering wheel there are just a load of coloured pins with numbers on them, do I need to wire it into the back or something?

I have no clue sorry!

i know this may sound mean but i'd get someone else who knows what they are doing to do it

you said you haven't got a clue and you could end up in a world of pain if you get something wrong with the electrics in a car.
