Touched my first GTI. Dealership in Stratford upon Avon has a black one in the showroom. Mine gone in for a service. This has the red dash and fortunately it's a muted matt finish, tends to look ferrari red in the videos. I think it'll go with the limestone I ordered way way back in January.

I’ve not seen nor touched one in the flesh yet. My dealer was going to contact me when they got their demo so I could have a test drive. I don’t know if they’ve got it yet, but if they have, they’ve not contacted me.

The velvet red dash pad is quite a muted red - I’ve seen it in a Beats model, and it’s not like it appears in many of the pictures. The alternative Deep Iron dash is a gloss finish, so is likely to show fingermarks, and if it’s like VW’s piano black interior trim, it may also be prone to swirl marks. I agree, the velvet red dash pad should look good in a Limestone Grey GTI, although I seem to remember there’s no alternative dash pad option with a Limestone Grey GTI.

If I recall correctly, the factory should be due to reopen around now, so hopefully you’ll get a confirmed build week soon!

But I wonder if they have done the appropriate WLTP tests on the Polo Gti yet. Without that they cannot start building or selling.

Not yet @Barrywi

The factory is open, but when a derivative is built it's being taken to do the WLTP test. There is no end date sat as yet for these tests

That’s a good point Barry.

Frustrating times for those playing the waiting game. 😠

I wonder if they would prioritise testing the models that they sell most, ie the cheaper ones? Also can they test in South Africa or do they have to transport an example to Germany?
My dealer still has no build date for his Polo Gti early order and it keeps getting put back, 2019 looks favourite now due to the time it takes to get to the UK
The only good news is that the UP Gti has been tested and can be sold on Sept 1 st( if you can find one!)

If it's a worldwide standard as the name implies, one would assume that the test can be carried out anywhere.

See the attached review on your Bridgestone, it’s not all bad 😁

Think the review is only on 16 inch rims though.

The Turanzas aren't half as bad as the Potenzas that Golfs frequently come on in 18" and 19" wheels. Was dreading them, after suffering a few tramping Golf on Potenzas. Seem a softer compound, but who knows, maybe this very hot weather is making them feel softer than they'd usually be.

On the return to pick up my car, the service assistant got the keys to the new GTI so that I could sit in it and start it up.
I noticed how the seats hug the driver more than the outgoing model. I always enjoy exhaust pops with my current DSG model but the exhaust note in the new one is a step above for sure. All in all very nice. (Apart from the bonnet lip....I just don't see any beauty in it)

Got a call to pop down and see my VW salesman this afternoon.
It was for a full refund on the slimmed down winterpack instead of a partial refund so was for £285.00
I suggest anyone out there in my situation goes to their dealer to mention what happened to me.
Good news for me too, not quite as good as yours but I am getting £200 per car towards the service packages I'm buying, my salesman contacted me today after I emailed him yesterday about your success.

Thank you for sharing your experience :)
