Welcome

The S doesnt have remote central locking - youll need to install a kit to make it remote central locking. Rclick.co.uk do some very good kits, and theres an install guide at the top of the DIY Guides section on the forum

Stereo wise, get something newer is the easiest option. A Pioneer SPH-DA120 is a very good choice :)

i was looking at the RCN210 stereo as it looks the same but has the aux and usb , was looking at others but as the orignal has sharp corners as the aftermarket ones ive seen have rounded corners so unsure about them fitting properley

The RCN210 would work, so that would be a good option

All aftermarkets come with fascias for the corners. This series of polo uses a standard double din so single or double din aftermarket radios will fit without issue.

Yep the RCN 210 is a perfect fit more than happy with mine

Links are for illustration I am not selling these
No recommendation just for illustration of parts required

The RCN210 was a good option for me also a polo 9n3
https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?f=43 ... 38#p537738

Straight forward install just needed a quadlock to ISO adapter
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/CT20VW02-VOLKSW ... 58e13ea3ac

You will need the old radio removal keys
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/AUDI-VW-CD-PINS ... 5d3a1611e4

Speakers i bought
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/VW-Polo-4-9N3-0 ... 5d75b6c5fa

The radio I bought came with the can bus simulator
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Car-Radio-RCN21 ... 363b18181f
Has micro SD card Slot USB slot Aux in + bluetooth

The First radio that they sent the display did not work
but after sending the photos of the radio working but no display they quickly dispatched another that worked fine ( did not have to send back the old one )

The radio removal tools were a bit flimsy and bent easily but I did get the old radio out wit them

There are two wires that need to be connected
A ignition 12v+
and an illumanation orange wire for the backlight to be connected to the lighting circuit

Both of these connections can be found at the cigarette lighter

the speakers were a little more difficult had to drill out the rivits to frr the old speakers
Adapters came with the new speakers for the wiring so that was easy

I had intended to connect the old speakers into the rear doors but have not got round to it yet as there is no wiring there yet

Hi Tim
You will need both the quadlock adapter and the canbus simulator

The quadlock cable converts the existing volkswagen square connector into an ISO which the new radio RCN210 uses
the can simulator plugs into the ISO harness then into the back of the RCN210
I think the can simulator is to provide permanent live & prevent battery drainage issues ( I could be wrong though )

There are two wires from the quad adapter to be connected to the cigarette lighter 12v+ as a switched live and an orange cable that goes to the illumination around the ciggy lighter
and when the lights are on the radio display dims and the orange backlighting comes on

The fakra aeriel connector on mine ( rcn210) had a little silver attachment plugged in to it so I just pulled this out and the harness adapter fitted perfectly

i think there was 1 wire left unconnected ( maybe blue ) I think this may have been for a powered aeriel but again open to correction :-)
