Update:

Dealership is not changing their decsison at the moment.

Chase VWFS and they are getting specialist complain handlers involved. They advise me to speak VW customer care to see if they can arrange a courtesy car for me in meantime. Turn out the executive team are waiting for a reply to one of their questions and I should not have been removed from my courtesy car.

They loved hearing about front assist calibration evidence we had.

It’s now been escalated to Executive Team Managerment!
We will see if we get somewhere with that!

My reason for rejection was the rear seatbelt.

I collect my Audi A3 sportback black edition tomorrow

In my opinion, If it's serious enough for a recall (which seatbelts most definitely are) then it's shouldn't be sold new, after a recall has been announced still with that problem the car has been recalled for. The fact that VW group has the balls to continue to sell cars with a serious safety fault is beyond me. They even admitted to doing it. Pretty simple me thinks.

It's a solid reason for rejection unless the car is bought on the understanding that you do not need to use that rear centre belt until the fix is in. Safety FIRST whatever you're doing.

I'm still in the dark about whether my BW23 Polo has no fix, the temporary fix or a permanent fix. We've never been advised either way. We don't use the centre rear seat as 2 kiddy seats at the 2 ends of the bench leaves very little room in the middle. If I thought those seatbelts were compromised in any way with no-one in the middle, i'd reject.

Amazed regulatory bodies like ROSPA haven't pushed for action to implement a quicker fix.

Yup, took 8 days in total from handing in letter to handing car back.

If I find when collecting my Polo for the first time, it's still got a problem with the centre seat belt, it will be rejected, it won't even leave the showroom, I won't even turn the key.

I got mine 2nd March, first found out via internet around May, took them until end of July to make me aware, took it in mid August for the ‘fix’. So I didn’t really know (no one did I don’t think) when I collected it

It will be the very first thing I ask when I step into the showroom, and I'll want a truthful answer. Could even take my camera down for the hand over and have on film the sales persons reply, just in case of any telling of porky's.

You should be able to tell based on the positioning of the seatbelt buckle. One is considerably higher than the other.

I thought my seatbelt had been fixed a month or so ago, but a week back I got the recall letter. So I’m confused. However, I don’t use the middle rear seat.

The fix was only a temp fix, which doesnt actually fix anything. :shock:

I think they just apply a zip tie somewhere :roll:
