Re: New GTI + delivery
Any adjustments for headlights, when provided inside a car are for lowering the lights, never raising the headlights.

Re: New GTI + delivery
Because the headlights on my car are LEDs they are preset , so no facility in the car to adjust up and down. This is why I asked the garage to adjust them. ( Probably a screw on the headlamp unit) I have yet to try the car out at night to see if it has improved the situation.
The suggestion to put the lights on ( if not on auto lights on/off) appears in the centre of the main instrument screen( Lcd panel on the Gti plus) , covering up what is displayed underneath. It comes on too early so even driving under a light tree canopy brings up the suggestion. There is no adjustment that I know of , unless there is a menu somewhere not available normally to drivers.
I know I could leave the lights on auto, but they must use the same light level sensor , so come on too early. Oncoming traffic may think that I am flashing them as it happens in what I would call daylight, not dusk as you would expect.
Just wish I could adjust the light level it happens or turn it off.
Minor problem I know, but it annoys me.
I am very happy with the car in general so just being picky, and know I am lucky to be able to actually own and drive one, considering the delays in delivery.

Re: New GTI + delivery
The problem I was trying to solve was that the right headlamp did not cover the outside lane enough, so just a minor lifting was needed to keep me happy.

Re: New GTI + delivery
Well that depends on the starting point does it not? My previous VW up had adjusters on the halogen headlamps that you could lift the headlamps too high. I think with LED headlights or the discharge types they have to be fixed by law, but could be wrong.

Re: New GTI + delivery
Yes, my comments were for the poster that suggested trying that!
Edit:- actually are you sure that you could lift the lights on the Up, normally you can only lower them for when you have heavy stuff in the back.
WRT LED and HID, they need auto range adjustment well HID does so if LED lights do not have an adjusting knob then so will they. I should know if LED equipped cars have auto range adjustment - must check my wife’s car tomorrow!
Any garage adjusting headlights should set the range control back to 0 before making any adjustment.

Re: New GTI + delivery
Found a video on YouTube showing the setting to change switch on time.
Seems to be in settings, light settings, switch on time.
Do you have this option?

Do you have a link for the video. A time would be no good as darkness varies obviously.

Similar menu to mine but the option of timing of lights coming on is not there. I do not think it is a 2018 Polo, but as the option is on that car maybe it could be added to my menu by accessing a factory menu?

No, that’s a mk7.5 Golf. It’s the Composition Media infotainment unit though as fitted in the current Polo.TElwoody wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 11:22 pmThats not a 2018 Polo? Is it?MattHGR wrote: ↑Mon Oct 08, 2018 11:01 pm Here's the video.

The previous generation (6c) Polo had the same MIB2 Composition Media infotainment unit as fitted to 2016 model year mk7 Golfs without sat nav, but I believe there were differences in some of the vehicle settings / functionality between the Polo and Golf, even though the units looked the same. Probably similar differences with the current Polo and Golf, which would explain why Barrywi isn’t able to find an option to change the light setting in one of the car settings menus.

Re: New GTI + delivery
Thanks for that. I bet the function could be activated by someone with the knowledge of the VW system.
