Polo brakes

Post by KOTSY »

Really sharp brakes on the front of my car.
Everything seems fine. Anyone else had this problem?

Is it pulling to one side or pulling up straight?

Is this a new development on the car, or always been like this?
Over-assistance on the brakes is common on lots of cars, it's maybe just the way it's supposed to be.
When I jump into our Sportage from the Polo, it's a nightmare until I get used to the sensitivity again.
It must be a nightmare for her to drive in slippery conditions.
Changing brake pads to a different brand can reduce the sensitivity, but you'd need to find someone who's done it before and knows which pads to use.

I seem to remember thinking that the front brakes on my wife’s 2002 9N Polo, when it was new, were vicious when compared with her previous cars, but I soon got used to them and remembered to stamp on the brakes on my car, while being light footed with her Polo, that car did have”enhanced braking distribution “ and at times I initially thought that it was that that was making this happen. Enhanced braking distribution was a form of emergency braking where if the brakes were applied quickly/firmly, the ABS system took over and applied emergency braking, and not just the usual anti locking of the brakes.
