Blind spot assist

Post by TomMortimer »

So it looks like blind spot option has been removed from the add ons for the Polo’s. Does anyone know why this is? As it seems like a weird feature to remove. Or has it been added on as a standard function?

I noticed a few months ago that Blind Spot Assist was no longer listed as an option on the GTI+ model. No idea why it’s been deleted. Pretty certain it’s not part of standard spec on any Polo model

Polo price lists aren’t currently available on VW’s website (suggests that VW might be updating them?), so can’t see if it’s offered as an option or standard equipment on any model of Polo.

Edit: just found an Aug 2019 Polo pricelist on the internet. Blind Spot Detection including Rear Traffic Alert wasn’t standard on any Polo in the Aug 2019 pricelist; it was optional all models apart from the GTI+ and R-Line models where it’s not available.

I don’t think it’s an option I would bother having - I’ve driven for nearly 43 years and haven’t ever had blind spot detection on any car I’ve owned. I’ll continue to make do with the interior rear view mirror, the exterior door mounted mirrors and looking over my shoulder.

I have blind spot monitoring on my wife’s car (not a polo) and while I agree you can look over your shoulder, use mirrors etc I still like it as a back up should I ever take my eye off the ball whilst driving.
We are all human at the end of the day.

When I recently enquired about blind spot monitoring when I was buying my now rejected Polo Gti, I was told it was currently unavailable to order and the brochures seem to back this all up.

I have retro fitted it to my 2018 polo and it works so well.

Check out the thread ‘what did you and your polo do today’

I suspect they are updating the options list for model year 2020. Based on the german configurator, it will replace the Blind Spot assist option with "Blind Spot Plus", which also contains Lane Assist.

Just looked at the VW UK website. The brochure is now dated 21 Nov. Blind spot is available for £410 on all models except for GTi+ ?

---edit---

Can't see 'Blind Spot' in the online configurator tho'
