Which alloys to get? Stuck, confused. Help!

Post by sm57ruo »

Hi guys

So I’ve just bought a polo 1.2 tsi 2012. I don’t really like that alloys which it already has, need some suggestions on what alloys to get.

The current ones I have look like the standard ones.

Suggest me some alloys to get below.

Thank you

My wife's 2015 1.2TSI 110PS came with 5 spoke 16" alloys which might suit you.

I did respond to your very similar question that you posted less than a week ago in terms of general considerations / things to be aware of when thinking of buying new alloys.

As advised previously, we all like different things so when it comes to alloy wheel choice, there are many different styles, colours and finishes and only you can really decide what style of wheel you would like. I’d stick with wheels that are manufactured by a reputable manufacturer though. I’d suggest you take a look at some of the on line alloy wheel sites for ideas;

https://www.rimstyle.com/
https://www.wheelbasealloys.com/
https://www.performancealloys.com/
https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/ (primarily a tyre retailer, but they have a comprehensive selection of alloys too)

If you input your car model details on each of the above sites, it will return only those wheels that will fit your car. However, as per my reply to your previous discussion thread, I’d stick to wheels that are the same or similar size / spec to VW OEM wheels to avoid potential issues with rubbing.

As above, and for fixing bolts convenience try to stick with alloys if aftermarket, that quote that they are OE fitment as moving away from that will normally mean changing fixing bolts to 60 degree taper ones and maybe needing to use a spigot ring - both which should come with a set of new aftermarket wheels, but can be a nuisance when you need to use your original spare wheel!

search on ebay for Polo wheels, then in the settings, select 5x100 and then select which size you are looking for-15", 16" and 17". Also try selecting Volkswagen/VW for the brand and see if you like any, or BBS is another good one. Or just leave it open to see all brands. Obviously remember you'll need the tyres too and they cost to fit and balance if you by wheels without the tyres. Also you'll need to select the right profile and width as well as size to match the wheels
