Key stopped working

Central locking has stopped working on the key. If i use the key in the door it unlocks the doors fine but the key buttons do not. The key lights up fine and I've just put a new battery into it too but still no luck. If I keep hold of the open and close button the windows go up and down but just central locking won’t work. Anyone have any idea? I can start the car perfectly fine but just can get the central locking working? Polo 66 plate 1.0 Match 3dr.

Try turning on the ignition and hold on to the remote control to unlock

Have you tried using the spare key to establish whether it is the key or the car

o not trying to get diagnostic, vagcom or whatever?

Not tried Vagcom. I’ve tried all youtube videos and nothing works. Tried a general code reader and it found nothing.
