I did an experiment the other week, with my new longer commute (32 miles each way). I pumped the tyres up to 38psi front and 36psi rear from 36psi front and 33psi back. No difference on mpg and ride was a bit harsher. So took it back down to 36psi fronts and 33psi back. This is on 225/40 R18.mind - I'd expect a lower pressure on the wider tyres.
Do your pressures cold (first thing in the morning is ideal), they'll increase a little as they warm - maybe by 4psi each if you're not driving like a loon and its not a scorching day.
