My dealer said last week that it's currently 3 weeks in Emden and then another 1-2 weeks once in the UK until handover depending on journey length and car transporter availabilityMrTomOates wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 5:40 pmOooo that's nice! Haven't had a look at that for a while, how long usually does it take from Germany to Nuneaton?SRGTD wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 5:27 pmTom, if your car is on Glovis Century, it’s next port of destination is Dakar in Senegal. It was scheduled to arrive there earlier today, but according to myshiptracking.com, Glovis Century is currently just south east of Dakar;MrTomOates wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 5:09 pm Today I've travelled 2 hours 30 mins to the VW dealership where I've ordered the GTI+ to part-exchange my old existing car. You’re probably looking at 2-3 weeks from Dakar to Emden, and then however long it takes for your car to be loaded onto a vessel for shipping to the UK.

Re: Delivery/Tracking
I had a call from my dealer yesterday to book in collection of my new car, which is planned for Sept 1st at midday! Counting down the weeks... days now!
They've taken it off you before car delivery? For me, they said they'll settle any existing bill and let me drive around in my current car until I get the keys for the new car.MrTomOates wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 5:09 pm Today I've travelled 2 hours 30 mins to the VW dealership where I've ordered the GTI+ to part-exchange my old existing car. Any reason why they made you do the part ex at a different time to picking up the new one? I’ve always done the handover on the same day.

Re: Delivery/Tracking
My existing car was on a PCP contract. The final payment was due on the 7th of September. The insurance was running out on the 7th of August and that meant that I didn't really want the additional costs of insurance for a month. Therefore, we came to the agreement that I would part-exchange the car and have the finance settled before I picked up my new car. It was a nightmare because my finance company weren't willing to have an extension until a received my new car.

Stage 5c SMS this morning... I'll be stalking lorries and driving by the dealership within a week at this rate then..
Still no change of delivery date though, as waiting until Sept for obvious reasons.

I’ve not had my stage 6 notification yet however my dealer says my car is at Sheerness UK port. (Was meant to collect yesterday but it wasn’t my car that had been delivered to the dealer).Magpie-01 wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2020 8:55 am Just received notification 6 how long does it take to get to the dealers from the uk port and then how long till I can collect thanks.

If yiu're buying it to keep rather than PCPing to chop in later, I'd wait for the new plate now - it'll be worth £1000-1500 more in private sale down the line on a 70 plate rather than a 20 plate.jackwhittle760 wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2020 9:41 amI’ve not had my stage 6 notification yet however my dealer says my car is at Sheerness UK port. Re: Delivery/Tracking
Good advice - hold on for 70 plate and it keeps it new look for 6 further months, get a 20 and it's old in a matter of days.monkeyhanger wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2020 1:35 pmIf yiu're buying it to keep rather than PCPing to chop in later, I'd wait for the new plate now - it'll be worth £1000-1500 more in private sale down the line on a 70 plate rather than a 20 plate.jackwhittle760 wrote: Tue Aug 11, 2020 9:41 amI’ve not had my stage 6 notification yet however my dealer says my car is at Sheerness UK port.
