Polo Newbie - Help Needed Apple CarPlay

Hi Group,

I've just bought a Polo 1.0 TSI BlueMotion Match Edition, registered on 28/04/17. I would love to enable Apple CarPlay on it, but I have no idea if it can be done.
I've not collected it yet - still at the local VW dealer prepping it. Ideally, i'd like to get it done before I collect it. I've asked about a retro-fit and got the 'immediate' response of, "no". They said it was a factory option, but not a retro-fit option.

However, I've read loads of posts suggesting it might be possible, if it has the correct media unit, and also if the USB connections are up to scratch. The problem i have is:

1) I don't have the car with me, so can't tinker with the media system to see if it's enabled
2) I don't know what media unit it has, nor how to find it out - it;s a touch screen (6.5"?), no sat nav, but has dab/bluetooth etc.
3) I don't know a whole lot about Polos, and what specs various models have

I have read that mid-2016 models and above do have the capability to have it fitted. I'm not sure if VW aren't just fobbing me off / don't actually know / telling me the truth??

Any help appreciated. I know there are other CarPlay threads - so apologies if this is a duplicate.

As far as i know they can activate it, obviously at a cost, im sure its the composition media.

If possible you can try go to a different VW garage and ask them and see what they say, there is another user selling there RCD 330 unit with car play for the 6c, will probably be cheaper to buy that unit then activate it, however id recommend first seeing if vw can activate it.

I have been doing research as I am in the market for 6C with CarPlay compatibility. As far as I can tell all Match Editions come with App Connect which allows CarPlay as standard and is the only spec to do so. I'm looking at a Match Edition as well to not have to deal with some of the hassle I have seen here from other posters to get it fitted or enabled retroactively.

@mizumi is correct; i had a quick test drive in the Polo yesterday just prior to purchase; plugged in the USB and up popped Apple CarPlay - perfect! Factory installed on the Match Edition model - as per the specs.
