Downpipe Polo GTI AW 2.0

Post by juan1103 »

Hi! I have a 2019 OPF model. I plan to change to this: https://rstmotorsport.com/producto/down ... i-inoxcar/ And I would have the following doubts ... Could you use this downpipe without remapping so as not to lose the warranty? Would there be a lighter remap "only for downpipe change" that does not void my warranty?

If remap was mandatory, is there a way I can't get caught by VW? Thank you very much! I would really appreciate your help

By the looks of it that downpipe will remove the catalytic converter so as a result will put in the engine management light and also void warranty.

Why would you want to fit that downpipe but not remap?! :?

Pretty much anything you change will void the warranty, exhaust, suspension, engine upgrades etc

But only downpipe is a exhaust void warranty or a only exhaust void warranty?

That's not a blanket voiding e.g. If you lower your suspension and the battery goes, they have no grounds to refuse warranty on the battery.

Mods that could have influenced the failure of a component or system can void the warranty of that component or system...if detected.

It's debatable whether tuning boxes are now detectable. For those that believe they are, the general concensus is that they aren't detectable at dealership level, but can be when plugged in to VW Central as they have access to a deeper analysis.

If I were using a tuning box, I'd certainly remove it before any dealership visits to avoid it being recorded that your car was seen with one.

If you install this downpipe you will get rid of the catalyst.
This poses a certain challange:
If you just install the downpipe and do nothing else, you will get a check engine light in your dash.
So in order to avoid that you have two options:
Option 1. Remap. A remap is a remap. There is no "light" version which is undetectable. Any rewriting of the software will leave a mark, thus voiding your warranty. However, if you do a remap the lambda sensors will just be disconnected and the problem with check engine light is solved.
Option 2. Lambda sensor emulator. You can install an emulator in this downpipe and no remap will be necessary. But... there is a but: installing an emulator often works on a trial and error basis. I have an emulator installed on my Audi TT and it took me multiple adjustments so that the fault codes do not reappear. On the upside, there is no modification to the ECU thus you keep your warranty.
