Difference between Polo GTI+ 2018, 2019 and 2020?

Post by jazzyr85 »

Hi everyone, I’m seriously considering trading in my Golf Match 1.0L for a Polo GTI+. Currently there’s a 2018 and a couple of 2019’s available. Are there any actual differences between them or are they virtually identical in terms of looks, features, etc?

There are minimal changes. I know few changes for 2018 but not 100% sure about other years.

2017 - launch model
2018 - added USB charging in for passangers in back and particle filter, fixed rear left seat belt lock (there was recall for older polos), added GTI with manual transmision (LHD only)
2019 - removed GTI with manual transmision (LHD only)
2019-2021 - eCall (SOS button), line assist
2021 - new VW logo, new GTI logo at back, USB C ports insted of USB A

That is all I remember

The GTIs without GPF are are noticeably more eager in the mid range and (unofficially) have more torque, generally generating about 370Nm as opposed to GPF versions with around 340Nm on average.

My wife has a 2019 GTI+ and I had a 2018 GTI+ - the difference was very noticeable between the 2 cars driven back to back. The one without GPF sounds a lot better too, the exhaust is very muted with the GPF on.

My GTI+ without GPF had better fuel economy too.

If it was registered in the UK before Sep 2018 then it shouldn't have a GPF.
