Parking sensor sensitivity

Post by Andy Beats »

Quick question, mental blank.
Can the sensitivity of the parking sensors be altered in the settings?
The Gti sensors are so slow to react compared with my previous 'beats', I've to reverse really slowly or there's the distinct possibility I'd hit something before they've even turned red.
Cheers

I think you can only adjust the tone and volume of the sensors - not the sensitivity - in the car settings menu under ‘Parking and Manoeuvring’ The sensitivity of mine seem to be OK and pretty similar to the sensors on my previous two VW’s.

I'll maybe have to put it in.
Reversing into my space at work, same pace as before in the 'beats'
First I knew I was close was the clang of the exhaust hitting the kerb.
Then the sensors caught up.... :D

I think you can adjust that with VCDS, but adjusting one of the adaptation channel in 76 - PDC.

Maybe speak to a VW dealer, they should be able to adjust it with their ODIS system.

I doubt the speed at which it updates your position is adjustable, maybe the range is. Surely the system is the same on all variants that come with front/rear sensors?

Sure you're not just driving faster in the GTI?

Isually the range detection/feedback starts at about 3 feet away and it beeps continuously as if you're pretty much touching the obstacle when you're 10"-12" away, in the Polo, the A1, the A4 and multiple Golfs and Sciroccos I've owned.

Positive.
DSG is so bloody lethal on the throttle in reverse I don't go anywhere near it, I just use the creep function.
Which is definitely slower than I reverse normally.
