Front Pads and Disc 2016 GTI Torque settings

Post by TrebleTA »

Hi I have done a quick search but not found what I'm after.
So I about to change the front disc and pads and after torque settings for the Gide pads for the front calliper also the Calliper hub Bracket bolts.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Went to look at my Erwin manuals I "printed" and realised I had the manuals for FS3 calipers rather than FN3 calipers.

Anyway with that sorted.

Guide pins: 30nm
Carrier bolts (clean if reused): 124nm
Brake hose with banjo bolt: 35nm
Disc retaining screw: 4.5nm (guten tight)
Bleeder screw: 8nm (again guten tight)

Hope that helps :)

Prepare some umf for carrier bolts, they can be tight because of thread locker. -18 mm socket

Also, the spring is a right bastard to get back on.

There is a knack to it however. I think putting the pointed ends into their holes on the face of the caliper and the bottom flat in place first then levering the top flat over. A light smear of ceratec made it easier.

Go for whichever way feels easiest for you as they aren't fun to deal with.

Thanks for the info, do you know if the carrier bolts should be replaced?

The service manual says to clean if resued so I'd say you can but I can't imagine them costing more than a couple of quid from your dealership.

Says the diameter is 288mm whereas the 6C GTi's front brakes are 310mm (312mm) so just double check they're for your car.

Personally don't like the look of the slot design that Brembo use (ATE's is also quite similar).

I myself am looking at fitting the DBA 4000 T3's with their street performance pad to mine when they eventually need changing. However, the DBAs are roughly twice the price of the Brembos.

If you were to buy just the DBA discs I believe Demon Tweaks sell them.

Havent fitted the fronts yet, getting that last bit out off the fronts. But have it all ready, euro car parts tock a age, due to me ordering a 18mm socket too, yet they could not get so went tool station and was half the price for the socket :)
P.s also noticed the front left disc is whining in slow traffic, have to stamp on the peddle to stop the whine. I did think it was the back, will try to do next week, I twisted my arm 5 weeks ago. Catching my dog fulling off the bed
