Hi All
Someone kindly smashed into the front corner of my Polo and hoping that I can do most of the work myself being that everything unbolts.
My question is, the front bumper bar has been pushed to one side and bent around 45 degrees where it bolts to the chassis legs. I am hoping that I can bend the fixing back to 90 degrees so allow me to fit a replacement bumper iron. I may have to use a lot of heat or even cut, bend and re-weld
Before I go to these lengths, does the car really need the bumper iron to support it?
Any help really appreciated
Cheers
Andrew

Thanks for your reply
Yes, just bent the ends slightly where it bolts onto
Hoping I can bend them back possibly applying heat to one side and maybe using the bumper bar as a lever if bolted to each leg at a time :0
Thanks for any advice
Cheers

Re: 2004 9N Front bumper iron
Sorted
Chassis was straight and just the iron bent. Undid the passengers side 3 bolts and used the iron as a lever to bend the end of chassis back where it bolts onto. Bent easily. Then bolted the iron bar onto the passengers side nd did the same.
Front slam panel cracked in a few places and was under pressure and now released.
Going to replace the slam panel and bumper and trying to understand why there are 2 paint names for plaint code LC9Z being Diamond Black whereas I think I have Black Magic pearl.
Also unsure as to how to go about the right adhering paint for the plastic bumper.
All good fun but now have plan to get car back on the road
