Brake light sensor issue

Post by adamswiatek »

Hi forum members.
I would like to introduce my problem with car.
I have Seat Ibiza 2013 , today I recognised I lost break light at all. I checked fuse nr 20 which is ok and scanned car with Vagcom which shown no errors.
I heard it could be break light sensor issue but I can not locate it close to break pedal.
Does anybody know where the sensor is located and how to replace it?

Thanks a lot

if you have vag com you should be able to read the status of the brake light sensor

we're not looking for errors, but simply to see the status of the brake light switch.

you enter a module with the brake light switch connected. i.e. the BCM. then you go to advanced measurement values, and then select brake light switch. in rest, it should say 'OFF' or 'non activated' and should go to a different state when you push the brake.

Hi.
I went to check it again with Vagcom. There was not brake light sensor in BCM module in advanced measurement.
I found sensor in braking system in module ABA/ Brake.
I went to advanced measurements and found sensor in breaking system. I choosen/ticked it from the list and got information about it on screen. The first status was unpushed. When I pushed brake pedal , it changed to pushed status.
I am not really sure if it is that I should check.

Yes. First position:

Sensor in braking system unpushed

When I push brake pedal:

Sensor in braking system pushed.

When I push brake pedal , status is changing to 'pushed'

That's likely the pressure sensor in the braking system. Not the electric brake light switch.

Be careful on road, it is not safe to drive in this situation.

In pq25 its located on the master brake cylinder and not on the pedal box.

Looks like your car is trying to go incognito mode with no brakes lights! :) But sorry, I'm not much help in finding the sensor.
