Cluster swap

Post by dgirllamius »

I have a 2012 diesel Polo and I have just installed right side buttons on my steering wheel. All buttons work great, the trip buttons work and cycle through, but the left and right buttons don't do anything. I understand these buttons are for a MFA+ cluster which I don't have, I just have the standard MFA.

From some other topics which I have read on here, it's possible to install a cluster from an Amarok which sounds great but what is the whole process of programming it to work in my car?

I asked a local coding place and they said it isn't possible. Can anyone shed some light?

Yes it's possible, but will involve adaptation of the cluster eeprom

I think you need first to copy your immo data from old cluster to amarok cluster.
I think you can do this with VAS5054A clone+ online acess.
50-70E tool + 50Eur for you to pay for someone to remote connect with online account.

Im not sure if there are any clone tools to do this offline ( maybe abrites)

I think that there is no "affordable" way to do this. I think you need to find a Locksmith that does immo.

And after that you need Eeprom modification.

Maybe someone that did this can tell you more detailed information about this mod. I didnt do it, so dont take my post as 100% correct.
