So ever since I brought my Polo, I always had a problem with the central locking system, where only the drivers door would unlock/lock
Until eventually I found out that if I push in my fuel caps locking pin, the central locking system would unlock all doors, but locking would cause the fuel cap pin would push in and the whole locking system would die
But there would be a suable hissing sound
So, I think the vacuum locking system might have a leak in one of the actuators on the fuel cap
So does anyone know how to lift the panels off to get into the pneumatic actuator.
How to access the pneumatic actuator in the fuel lid

For the doors?
Doorcards can be removed in 2 min.
Remove cap from doorhandle on the inside, unscrew 2 screws.
Gently pull doorcard from the bottom up to release it from the taps
Actuator will be behind the plastic on the door.

I think he means the fuel cap locking actuator. If you open the boot, it's going to be on the right side behind the panel/carpet (between the wheel well and the rear light). It's held on by 2 screws and easy to take off. Nevertheless...mounting it back on might be quite fiddly. I recommend not doing this job in a hurry
