Part numbers and associated date code?

Post by wolfie »

Am I interpreting the date code correctly? I assume D >> - 06.06.2011 is everything up to that date. And D - 06.06.2011>> - 05.03.2012 is everything between the two dates. I guess the D would be German for something or other?

Volkswagen Polo (2010 - 2012)

15
accelerator pedal with
electronic module
D >> - 06.06.2011
manual gearbox 1 6Q2 721 503 E

(15)
accelerator pedal with
electronic module
D - 06.06.2011>> - 05.03.2012
manual gearbox 1 6R2 721 503 A

I just want to be sure I'm hunting for the correct part to begin with. Mine is 04/2011 so 6Q2 721 503 E

That's correct.
"D" for "Date"?

Now I've had a think, it could be "Datum, a fixed point??" No matter so long as I'm looking for the correct part number.. :)

Yes, D >> xxx means before
D xx > xx means within this period

I'd say D >> means date larger, so after, but in VW speak, it's before.

Sorry if you know this already, but the "dates" shown in the parts listings are for production line build dates, you can get the actual build date from any VW main dealership's parts department, maybe ask they for a printout of your car's CAR DATA - I make a habit of getting a copy of CAR DATA for all our family cars, it just makes life a bit easier sometime along the way.

CCP or Coverdale Car Parts will supply you with this by email for a nominal charge, maybe £5 if that seems easier.
