Just brought a 2020 1.0 Tsi 95 Match 5Dr Dsg. My first Volkswagen so still learning about them.
All my other cars, admittedly much older and less sophisticated, when you turned the ignition on the oil pressure warning light would come on and only go off once the engine had started.
When I turn the ignition on in the Polo with the engine not running there is no oil pressure warning light showing.
Is this normal? or indicative that the oil pressure switch is faulty i.e. showing that there is oil pressure even when there is none?

Re: Faulty Oil Pressure Switch?
When turning the contact to acc, there will be a lot of checklight on.
When the car checks everything they will extinguish.
Only lights on should be:
Red:
Dynamo
Seatbelt(s)(when not strapped in)
Handbrake (when applied)
Yellow:
Check engine light
Green:
Press brake (when you have automatic gearbox)
In your infotainment you can look under CAR if there are any faults or problems.
When it says save yourney there are no problems
After starting the car only

Seatbelt(s) (when not strapped in)
Handbrake (when applied)

Thank you for that detailed reply.
Must admit that I’m a bit old school and will miss that light. Gave me a sense of reassurance that all was well when it turned off as soon as the engine fired up.

Re: Faulty Oil Pressure Switch?
Also, certainly on older VWs like my (year) 2000 Bora, the low oil pressure warning was inhibited from annunciating until the engine revs were > 2000 RPM, I think (some) older models had either two pressure switches or one pressure switch with two different settings, the lower setting one was armed below 2000 RPM and the higher was armed above 2000 RPM, or something like that, if I can locate the oil pressure switch on my 2019 Polo, I'll remove the connector and test to see if inhibited at < 2000 RPM or whatever.

Re: Faulty Oil Pressure Switch?
I think that the low oil pressure light gets inhibited for a short period in time when you begin to start the engine, after that time period has run out if the oil pressure is low, the warning will get issued ie a message on the dashboard.
Now, this has the unfortunate effect of, if lets say, you have replaced a petrol fuel filter when they were still fitted to cars, you would need to crank the engine for a longer than normal time, and as the "low oil pressure delay" time had now run out, the car issued a "low oil pressure warning" - which lead to some sensible people thinking that they had another problem - but, no, just the way that VW Group handle the low oil pressure warning.
Maybe a good time to add in another maybe sensible fact, all petrol engined cars get designed to be able to recover from a "flooded engine", ie one that has for one reason or other, ended up with too much fuel in the cylinders, the way to clear this problem is to floor the accelerator pedal as doing this during the starting sequence will shut down fuel injection into the cylinders, ie when the engine's ECU detects WOT (wide open throttle). There are other uses for WOT on manual gearbox equipped cars and also for autos when the engine is running.

Re: Faulty Oil Pressure Switch?
Removed the connector from my 2019 Polo oil pressure switch, oil pressure warning text "Low oil pressure, stop engine etc" does not annunciate until revs are increased to 1600 RPM which I take it means that its not armed until the revs reach 1600 RPM?.
