Hi
The battery on my 2023 Polo R line seems to be losing it's voltage very quickly if i don't use it for a 3 or 4 + days the voltage goes from 12.6 v to 12.0 v or even less very quickly
I have asked if a larger battery is available such as a 70Ah instead of the 40Ah that is fitted as standard but have been told the VW only list one battery for the car and if i decided to replace it with a non VW battery the code used to update the cars charging would not be available on the new battery, I have found VW and the dealer network to be less than helpful
Thanks for any replies

@Alboyuk; do you have a dash cam or security device such as Autowatch Ghost that might be causing battery drain while your car’s parked up?
Re: Battery on my 2023 Polo R line seems to loose voltage very quickly
I do not have a ghost and my dashcam has its own battery backup so no drain on the cars battery , what i need is a 70Ah battery but cannot get any recommendations , I am in desperate need of an alternative battery that would fit

I’m not sure that just replacing your battery is the solution, unless your existing battery is faulty. If your car’s systems aren’t fully shutting down when the car’s not being used, then there’ll still be a drain on the battery - whether you have a 40Ah or 70Ah battery.
I think the first step would be to find the cause of the drain - whether by the VW dealer or an independent specialist. If you’re finding your usual VW dealer isn’t being very helpful, you could always try a different dealer. Is it possible that there might be a problem with your dash cam’s battery back up and the dash cam might still be drawing current from your car’s battery when you’re not using your car? Maybe disconnect your dash cam next time your car’s not being used for a few days so you can either confirm or eliminate that as the cause.
Good luck
- I hope you get it sorted. Please update this discussion topic with developments and the outcome for the benefit of other forum members.

agree with everyone.. you either have faulty battery of a parasitic draw..
I don't know what battery is fitted to your model but I fitted a larger battery to my polo 1.0 myself.. it is true it does need coding but I have an OBD Eleven kit and did it myself.. entering the proper AMPs etc (you can't just drop another battery in the slot - it needs coding)
I checked for a draw on mine with a clamp meter which I, fortunately, also have. If you know of someone with a DC clamp meter, that can detect low amperage, you can check yourself. I just took the key out of ignition closed all the door and opened the bonnet and left it to settle for a minute so everything was closed down electrically... Don't lock the doors as it arms the alarm system. Opened the bonnet and put the clamp on either the Neg or Pos lead and see what amps are being drawn in that state. If there is a current draw it won't tell you where it is but it is a start.
Any competent Indy could do that for you and not charge £150 for diagnostics like VW.

You need to disconnect your dashcam fully and see what effect that has first.

I installed the Dashcam myself and the backup battery for it is fed from the cigarette lighter socket which is dead when the ignition is off so no chance it is the cause of the battery drain
