Stoage area, yeah no worries.

- Remove the radio with the VW keys.
- Then you should be able to see the lower 'box' easily. Get a firm grasp of the rear of the box is a hand you can fit in the area where the radio is and pull it towards you. It feels like its going to break but it wont. If you are a little concerned, you can use a flatheaded screwdriver to help easy it out on the sides as its got some tapere like tabs one each side.

console.lower one or upper with vents?

Lower. Kinda hard to explain though. Theres two little triangular type blacking plates each sode of the fog light buttons. Take them out with a small paperclip of a small flathead and there are 2 Torx screws behind them or so i remember. Either way it gives you access to the plastic surround of the climatronic. Pop that off carefully.

Then i cant remebember but its pretty easy from there. To take the console out i think you have to also remove the plastic that runs below the steering wheel too that included that random pocket near the fuse box as that plastic covers/overlaps one screw that u need to remove on the right hand side under the drinks compartment. There is also one in the right handside of the glovebox.

Upper one. Take radio out and lower storage. One torx behind lower storage box in the middle then another 2, one each side on the inside of the double DIN hole. Then it just swivels up and out

Hope it helps (Come on Haynes)!!!!

I could do with removing the bottom part of the console aswell. It's rattling from somewhere behind it like a good'un and it's annoying the hell out of me. Need to find it soon.
