1.4 engine tuning
i have the 1.4 75bhp engine, and i was wondering what is the diffrence between the 75bhp and FSI 86 bhp technically? is it just a diffrence in the ECU (chip) , i know that the FSI 100 bhp has a lower compression than the 86bhp
ok, so what do i need to do to change my 75bhp to a 86 bhp?...is it just the chip

FSI is a whole different engine, not just the chip. you can look for chip applications for your specific engine but no more than 10bhp will be gained...

The FSI technology was developed by Audi for Le Mans, where fuel tactics dictate the result of the races. FSI engines were designed to be more efficient, meaning less fuel for more energy output, which would improve the timings of Audi race cars.
Later on VW group adapted this technology to various models. An FSI owner would describe the benefits better, but its not just an 11 bhp increase, its a new technology. it provides the power of petrol engines with the efficiency of diesels

aye - it's like the technology they use for common rail diesel engines - putting the fuel directly into the combustion chamber under pressure rather than through injectors or carbs. you can control it lots more - and also something to do with the spray pattern - so it's more efficient.
that technology made diesels a whole lot better - and the FSI engines are a good deal more efficient and have more torque than their standard injector siblings.
i think it's cleaner too - for the green people.

So what actually determines the normal petrol engines from its power then? I always wanted to know this. 'cos I mean there's like a couple of different 1.4 litres but some are 75BHP and the other is 100BHP?
What have they done to the engine then? Surely the engines must be fairly identical - since this ain't the FSI version I'm talking about.

i'm not 100% sure but it is direct injection at a pretty high pressure.... i don't think standard injectors are direct in the same way.
i bet you will find a few differences between the 100bhp and 75bhp engines.... cam shafts (are both of them double overheads?), timing, mapping etc... even different internals, but I don't know the 75bhp engine very well.
