Heaters / Air Con

Post by xx_loopy_xx »

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to ask if anyone elses heater has broken! Mine only comes on if you put it onto number 4, but on 1 2 and 3 nothing...... :(

Apparently its a heater resistor, which is behind the dashboard, they said its about a 4 hour job. Luckly its still under warrenty, i bet it'd cost a fortune otherwise.

Anyone else had this kind of problem??

Wonder what kind of courtesy car i'll get...... :?

Hi

I have a 52 plate 1.9tdi sport, and my heater/ac is not working properly.

It will blow out very hot air even when set to cold, other times when set to warm, it will start blowing out cold, its all very strange! I never have chance to take it to dealership either as I need my car for work, and often finish too late to drop it off.

I had that on mine - very annoying when it is 30C outside and starts blasting red hot air out.

2 dealers had it in 3 times and replaced the heater control unit but it just did the same again after a couple of days. The first dealer (INCHCAPE TELFORD - Avoid with a barge pole) couldn't even locate what the problem was and said it was normal. Oh yeah having red hot air blasting out when the AC is on coldest!

I know i've had trouble with my heating on my 02 1.4 TDi polo, tonight on my way home I was being blasted with boiling hot air ... had to open the windows!

My boyfriend has VAG-COM and did fault code check on the climate unit and it came up with what's below :

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US

Control Module Part Number: 6Q0 820 045
Component and/or Version: Klimaanlage X0840
Software Coding:
Work Shop Code:
3 Faults Found:
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
28-10 - Short to B+ - Intermittent

Could this be related to other people's problems ? and does anyone know where this particular bit is and how to get into it to fix it ?

Heater/Aircon Control.

Post by mike w »

Hi,
I've just had mine attended to under warranty. Aircon/heater flap motor (controlled by temp adjustment knob) was u/s, this was replaced but when it was put back in place a clip must have broken and when I got home, after hearing lots of rattling, I found the unit (visible from passenger side foot well) was just hanging loose. Yet another trip to the dealer and another reason to be dissatisfied with VW.

Hello all,
Sorry to drag this back from the past...

Mine is well shot, its either on fire or freezing and since I now only use it for long distance driving, its a right pain in the bottom, (and ears, as the missus is not pleased!)

Does anyone have a good (DIY) fix for this? If its a motor then can it be replaced or is it more of a problem with the flap sticking. Really cannot be arsed with VW any more, even tried an independent and they said it was fine, grrrr!

Cheers all,
Happy New Year!

Ted
