New GTI
Re: New GTI
I've manage to get 52 MPG on a drive to work earlier in the week.
Around a 30 mile drive, 40 mins, mainly A roads.
Very please with that, i expect it to get better after i've put a few miles on it too!

Re: New GTI
That's excellent. Best I've got so far is about 43.5 on a mix of town, motorways at around 72 mph plus some average speed camera stretches. Long-term average is 35.9 mpg, with the majority of that on motorways. Around town, if driving sensibly, with the odd bit of rapid acceleration thrown in, I can get between 30 - 36 mpg. Not paying attention it can drop to 28 for short runs in traffic.martinp wrote:I've manage to get 52 MPG on a drive to work earlier in the week.

Personally I think that is superb economy for such a pleasurable little car to drive.
Re: New GTI
Some really long waits here for the GTI. I ordered mid May and arrives at the dealer early next week. That's manual box in 3 door.
Can't wait to get my hands on it now, but will still wait till September for new plates

Re: New GTI
Has any one done any mod's yet to there gti's .. Lowered , exhaust system or anything???
Re: New GTI
I'd love to get my exhaust done when I get it but it'll void the warranty
I really wish VW did what Vauxhall did with the corsa VXR, the exhaust on that thing is 1 decibel off the legal limit
Re: New GTI
Only voids the warranty on the exhaust [emoji6] VWR does some nice things [emoji106]

Re: New GTI
i'm going to wait a year for any faults to be sorted under warranty
i have noticed that vw use the same intercooler as the 6r gti so the forge one fits so that would be my first mod

Re: New GTI
Modifications aren't really a problem, VW aren't bothered when it comes to warranty e.g. if you've fitted lowering springs, aftermarket exhaust etc at the end of the day they are all bolt on bits that can easily be changed, i've had warranty work done previously on cars with modifications e.g. remap, exhaust etc.

Re: New GTI

but they might start looking if you turn up with a blown turbo or gearbox.

They are amazing cars - I'm still smiling every time I get in mine! It's like having an amazing toy to play with that's really at home in the City. Small, nimble, quick, economical, comfortable, luxurious... What's not to like?Franklinavfc888 wrote:Pick mine up tomorrow. Can't explain how excited I am! I need to try and stop reading about / watching videos of this car, got ages to wait for mine and I'm trying to forget about it until it gets closer
I did have a dream about it the other day though, and when I woke up I'd got an e-mail saying the VW delivery tracker had updated!

Hah, I know your pain, bro. It's exactly the same for me, but somehow I cannot get rid off the Polo desktop wallpapers at home and workduffman wrote:I need to try and stop reading about / watching videos of this car, got ages to wait for mine and I'm trying to forget about it until it gets closer
Re: New GTI
I'm finding that I prefer the LED headlights at night over the previous 6r xenon. Appear to give a more daylight looking spread of light.
