Yeah i havent seen it done before so i fort why not be the first and its red like the door cards so it works really, like the ek9 civics and jdm look!

Im trimming my rear pillars and smoothing them off at the minit to make it all smooth in the back once the rear cards go back in........

Heres some pics and also why the car is goin back as im not happy with the finish around the edges like the top turret if ya look

I also removed certain clips and mounts to make it all smooth in the rear.......

Trotta's progress thread, *!New lcr splitter, tow strap, I.C

Post by Trottagti »

Been a tad busy,

Fitted parts such as

New lcr splitter
Trs tow strap
Complete new stereo upgrade such as
Infinity kappas upfront 60.9cs,
Vibe 1200w spacebox amp
and finally new pioneer 400w 6x9s t-a6904i

Complete new wire loom and high deff speaker flatline wire

Im also running new speaker wire fru the front door speakers as the Kappas need decent wire to get the full power, just having trouble routing the wire iv had to make a new loom under the oem door loom as the door loom is a prong system so cant fead the speaker wire through it im making my own new one!

Been busy, pics.......................

Old crappy splitter was removed and tow strap fitting

Good progress dude!

Undecided if I like the tow strap though, in ways I think it's cool and different, but in others I think it looks out of place?

My other half has just bought the exact same one for his polo but he hasn't fitted it yet, and I don't think he's gonna like it.

Anywho, keep the updates coming! :)

I dont want to sound Harsh but I think that Tow Strap looks awful, it just looks out of place and doesnt do the styling any favours (In my opinion).

Hats off to you though for trying something different, looks a good job but doesnt do it for me lol :D

I like the Splitter but I am not sure whether the GTI really needs it? the proportion of the car looks wrong to me with the splitter, I think their more suited to the Ibiza's, Leons, Fabia's etc.

Loving the Stereo upgrade though that looks quality, bet it sounds good too 8)

Have you had yours re-mapped yet mate?

The stereo upgrades look pretty cool mate, you got it all in yet?.

The tow strap does look alittle out of place if im honest with you, looks like your car is sticking its tongue out at everyone.I think you'd have to go all out rally look to pull it off nicely.

Good to see someone doing something alittle different though,so don't pay any attention to me not liking the strap haha.

Yeah i fort id get a mixed bag with the strap but my mate has one on his seat ibiza and looks awsome so wanted one!

Tbh i think a decent pic will do it justice as it sits alot further in now so its not like all out in the pic i just fitted it and had the pic waiting

Erm as for the re-mapping i havent had the funds as the audio system come in quite pricey and i need some more work doing to the intake so i think il wait after but the de-cat system has made a vast improvment it is massivley responsive i doubt a re-map will do much but its worth matching all my mods together i guess!

U got ur 4-2-1 on yet?

Sorry, but I also think the strap looks awful. See them all the time on wannabe rally cars. Agreed that the LCR doesn't suit either.

I have to agree with Timo on this one. Though its nice to see some fresh inspiration. Its hard sometimes to find new things to do on these cars that havent been done in their masses before!

I feel a lot of cars get pushed in an attempt to be original just for the sake of being 'original', and as a result have a very disjointed outcome. I feel this car is quickly becoming an example of this, nothing personal to you dude. But my opinion is that you can't beat timeless classics. Popular mods and styles are popular for a reason!

Still havent got my raceland fitted yet mate, money is a little tight at the moment and I want to get my manifold & exhaust both fitted at the same time.
MOT is due in April so I want to get a full 12 months test before I get them done because I want a full de-cat system.

Love this car, not my personal taste, but I like the way you don't really care what people think, just do what you like and the mods you enjoy! Fair play and keep going!

Is the tow strap in homage to Ryan's 4motion (it got featured in Fast Car)?

You need some motorsport-inspired rims and a lot more lows!
