Thanks for that Tank Montana.I feel a bit better now.
As I live in Hertfordshire, I understand that the Polo will be off loaded at Sheerness in Kent.
Having just Googled a photo of the port at Sheerness and seen the hundreds of vehicles parked there awaiting transportation to dealers, to an outsider it looks to be a logistical nightmare !!
Obviously they have systems to sort them all out for delivery.

I ordered my 3 door bluegt pretty much exactly 2 months ago now... The online tracker said build week was 21/12/14 very quickly after i ordered it, on the 20th of dec that build week disappeared and it now just says ''Your order has been confirmed for production. Please contact your Volkswagen retailer for further information'' . . . not quite sure if that means its still going to be built this week and i will see within the next couple of days ''build in progress'', or if it means ''this tracker is pointless and doesnt actually represent whats really going on with your order''
Either way, i'm not too hopeful that i'll be getting the car in january, like i was originally told by my dealer- not particularly in a rush myself though so isn't too much of a concern for me!

Well guys,
Quick update, I have now given up and cancelled my order. You can imagine how cheesed off I am but the wonderful!!! Dealership left me with no option, simply unbelievable attitude ( they are doing me the favour allowing me to attempt to buy from them).
I am getting my deposit back but that is it.
I still really want a Blue Gt so have decided to try a broker(surely can't be worse than dealing with a dealer?), drive the deal are offering me a new one with xenons & folding mirrors for £16,367, think I am going to go for that.
They have quoted me a 14 week delivery. At this rate I will be getting my pension, but this seems more reliable than the 8 weeks the dealer quoted.
Thanks for all your help guys and let us know when yours eventually arrives.

Note that Drive The Deal will put you in touch with a dealer (which could be anywhere in the country) and after the initial deposit payment (card details given to DtD, but payment taken by the dealer) all your dealings will be with the dealer itself, though often it'll be the business side rather than the retail side.
Delivery length is often dependant on how many cars the dealer has left of its allocation in the present period. If they've run out, it'll get put into the next periods allocation and that could increase delivery time. On the other hand, DtD do move their orders around so it's likely that the dealer they place your order with, will have available allocation.

@Fedupvw - I went through Orange Wheels and cannot fault their handling, one phone call to them and they arranged for the dealer to call within two days and I saved around £3k overall. I went with OW over DtD as you don't give them your bank details, but rather do that part directly with the dealership. I would also checkout Carwow as their prices were in the same area, but you get given the option of who you want to go with and dealers on there can throw in extras to win your custom as they are effectively bidding against each other.
Whilst you will generally get a good price through brokers, be mindful that you may get placed with a dealership a fair distance away. As an example, I got placed with Swindon VW but live just north of London (2 hour journey to get there).

Hopefully my dealer will now be able to confirm a date for collection - not going to push right now as I'm busy till new year....
Ordered at the start of October so its looking like 12 weeks total.

I called up VW CS earlier today and was told due to the festive period shipping schedules are running slightly differently to normal, so all they could say was mine was making its way to Emden . I asked about a ship name but he said due to the schedule changes, he couldn't tell me an to give them a call back on Wednesday for more information. Having ordered the first week of September, it'll be four weeks next week, and a month over the original collection estimate.
Reading around online on a Golf focused forum, I found that the shipping process, or stage 5 as it's also known, will send out the following texts/emails:
Order has progressed to stage 5a of 7 (in transit: left factory)
Order has progressed to stage 5b of 7 (in transit: shipping)
Order has progressed to stage 5c of 7 (in transit: near the UK)
As we are all generally at the same-ish stage, have you guys got these? I remember getting a text/email and I think it was 5b (don't think I got 5a), but I had to reset my phone last week so no longer have the texts.
My reason for asking is because I'm trying to nail down when they count each stage as "complete" for Polos. Golfs are built in Wolfsburg and go to Emden by train, so they'd only get one ship, but as Polo's come from either Spain or South Africa, they would go on two, so when do we get the texts/emails? I'm guessing something like this:
Spain/SA (5a) ---> To Emden (5b) ---> Depart Emden ---> Docking at UK port (5c)
Does anyone know what actually happens at Emden?
----------
On a completely separate note, how are you guys thinking of going about your collection in regard to the car being valeted?
I've read many comments saying don't let the dealer valet it as they will generally do a terrible job, so I'm more than likely going to request they leave the protective wrapping on until I arrive and inspect for any damage whilst removing it. I'll then just detail it myself properly at home

@tankmontana here's some of the info iv been told by vw CS and my dealer
Apparently the BGT from Spain only gets on one ship from emden I'm guessing train from Spain which would make sense Spain has a lot of freight trains my uncle used to work on the lines over there.
The stages 1-7 is what is used by the tracker and it would be nice to think that you would get all of them texts iv had one for the 5a but nothing else yet as if Christmas I think,
My dealer uses a different stage layout and I am currently at stage 30 apparently which is still on the way to emden but I have been in this stage for almost 3 weeks and it's starting to annoy me now. I have been told that I will have the car in January but I'm not holding my breath

@Jamesbluegt - A train would make more sense (probably cheaper, more regular and won't have sea weather to deal with), unless that is specific for the BGT (mines an SEL).
I've had a look on Marine Traffic and the ship called Emden, which had "VAG Transport" written on the side of it at some point, left Santander port yesterday and is scheduled to arrive in Emden on the January 1st. This is probably plausible as Pamplona is fairly close to Santander, whilst it also has a large lot with plastic wrapped cars on it, and is consistent with what CS told me yesterday.
When I called CS for an update before Christmas (around the 17th December), I was told it had just reached the final checkpoint and was leaving the factory, so basically it was still sitting in Spain for nearly two weeks after being built

I still haven't decided whether to wait until March or not though, so all my impatience could be in vain.
@Doc_House - I'm guessing stuff like emissions as this could change for each car, but not too sure.
As your now on the home straight, have you made plans for collection/delivery and are you having them valet it?

Hi all,
Having cancelled order for my Blue GT and got deposit back, I have now started getting texts from VW telling me where "my" car is ( stage 5c near UK)!!
Decided to go through Drive the Deal, got same car but with xenons cheaper than one ordered previously. Just got to wait till April but at least they have given me a realistic time scale this time.
Won't be too much longer for you guys to wait, at least you can see light at the end of the tunnel.
Lots of pics please when they arrive.

4 months? That's a long wait, even for a BGT. I ordered mine mid-November and should be getting it at the end of this month. Loads of nerdy HD photos will be posted
