Do you know where I could get a hold of that magazine? Is it available online anywhere, or could you scan/photo the GTI pages in for us?
I bought it from pocketmags.com

Hi guys, some bad news.
Someone has keyed my car all over on almost every body panel (even the fuel cover!). The scratches seem quite deep, almost as if my car has white lines. I don't have any pictures because I just couldn't bring myself to look at the scratches again. I now try avoid looking at them when I get in the car.
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? Do I need a full respray? Both driver and passenger side and boot have been keyed. Will machine polishing work? How much will it cost?
Would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

I would suggest speaking to your local dealer and finding out who their approved body shop is. You'll likely need the sides and boot fully resprayed

Afk,
Agree with Alex, your dealer will recommend a body shop unless they have one on site. Polishing will not repair the paint if it has gone through to the base coat, needs a respray. They may give you a discount if you go in crying

You living in london? street parking? Get yourself a dash cam that is motion sensored enabled while car is off ( mains runs into fuse box) and that will put em off next time as they will see it recording when they approach the car in future.Or better you catch em. There are cams that are both rear and dash, can get pricey but worth it. Guess your insurance may cover the respray this time?

Nasty pieces of work and I'm sure done out of jealousy. I would go to the dealer to see if they can carry out a respray at a discounted price. I agree about including a camera to try and deter this in the future. I know they carry out really good repairs these days and it will be looking like new!

Thanks for the responses guys! It really is sad that things like this happens. Funnily yes i do live in london and park on the street...I'll def look into getting a camera.
Anyone have a ballpark figure of how much a respray would cost? I'm assuming I'll need a full respray so that all body panels are matching?
