The guy at the russian site changed his BCM to work with gas discharge lamps (= OEM xenon with LED DRL I guess?) and in that proces he changed the canbus wiring to the instrument cluster.
As a result of that, the steering wheel also worked.
Thats how I got it :)

Okay. If it's just a matter of changing the CanBus wire it's suddenly a lot cheaper.

The steering wheel functions can work with a 6R BCM. The problem is getting light in the buttons on a 6C steering wheel.

I know the airbag wiring harness is a straight swap but do you know if the cruise control will work?

What I understand is that if your current BCM has the pins 54 and 57 in the connector B (white) and you install the two wires to the instrument cluster, as indicated, you get lighting in the new steering wheels on previous models to the restyling. (Polo 6r, 2014 Jetta, Polo Sedan (ru), etc ...)

It also solves the problem of communication with the instrument cluster when a BCM 090 Maxx is installed.

It is very logical that all this is so. I would do the necessary tests, but now, I do not have a BCM 090 or a steering wheel of the new models...

Look at Elsawin and compares the two models 6R vs 6C. :)

right click -> open image in new tab to see better

So this is the good old 6R

Image

And this is the new boy in da house, the 6C

Image

Image

so the we have to look at the T12 connector with the little tornados in them.
That is the connector from the airbag wiring harness to the steering wheel column

T12/1
T12/2
T12/3 6R: airbag igniter 6C: airbag igniter match
T12/4 6R: airbag igniter 6C: airbag igniter match
T12/5
T12/6
T12/7 6R: ground wire from horn plate 6C: ground from horn plate and MFS module issue
T12/8 6R: horn input plate T73a/29, 6C: cruise control wire to ECU via T16c/2 --> 6R has a wire from T41/29 and T41/26 to ECU problem
T12/9 6R: linbus for button control 6C: linbus for button control match
T12/10 6R: 12V from terminal 15 6C: 12V from terminal 15 match
T12/11
T12/12

Things to find out:
- are the 6R T5m/1 or T5m/4 the mass wire for the MFS module, like the T5n/1 from the 6C?

Things to think about:
The T12/8 on 6R, can we disconnect the horn input signal and connect it to the cruise control wire from the stalk?

Edit:
I guess not because the 6R cruise control has many more wires

yes, T5m/4.

It's necessary to see the engine area j623 GRA of 6C, select any engine model you want and show me the diagram.

Here is the ECU 1.2TSI 66kW

Image

Interesting to see the T16a with the E45 (cruise control switch) and E595 indicated with the asterisk. That must be the cruise control on the stalk for vehicles without multifunction steering wheel.
T16a is the connector for the indicator stalk E2. On 6R and 6C, that houses the cruise control buttons for vehicles with no MFS

This is where wire to [31] goes. apparently to T73a/53 (BCM).
This is the wire that comes from the steering wheel too.

Image

Polo 6C cruise control seems to work with only one white cable whilst Polo 6R had multiple wires to it.

iichel, Cruise control system buttons of new steering wheels never are going to work on Polo 6R.

The problem lies in the unit of steering column, a very different system of comunication with BCM, 6R vs 6C.

- In 6R, the comunication of CCS is direct to the BCM.
- In 6C, the unit of steering column is in charge of this communication by CAN lines. (like in Golf MK7)

No problem if you install a new steering wheel like these:

I need to buy new fuse and terminals, too.

In my local car mechanic connect fog lamps costs $80.This is a much faster way, but.. I will try do it :D

Do you know where can I find any pictures which show the places where are connections from this scheme?
I'm a newbie
Hi CNK,
Did you manage to get it working? If so, please share some pictures and steps. I'm trying to enable it on my Polo Sedan as well.
