gti + Brescia alloys, climate and Sat nav.. Grey.
None of those should have negatively affected lead times - at least half of us here who got a GTI/+ before WLTP deadline opted for Brescias. SatNav (i'm slmost certain) is just a software supply on SD card slot 1, hardware already in place) and climate control is no biggie. I have Brescias, Nav and rear camera on mine, built in June. Sunroof is usually the hardest thing to get sharpish on any VW. Perhaps they don't have a dedicated subline in the bodyshop and only do the sunroof body shells in a campaign a few times a year (Ford used to do that when I worked at a number of their plants as a contractor).

Possibly the sunroof is a problem this time combined with WLTP.
I have it on my current car and it caused no delay last time. Ordered in the January and took delivery at the end of April. The car also has a lot of other kit.
I'm beginning to view other cars, not VW, just in case I dump this order. Happy to have an ex demo, don't need a brand new one everytime.

Id say the sunroof is the issue, it is a quite significant amount of extra weight (relative to how much weight average options add) so i can imagine it would need to be tested under WLTP.

My order is a bog standard GTI. I haven't added any extras so it will be interesting to see if that makes any difference with waiting times.

I ordered mine 21st July as GTi+
Let's see if it really does make a difference.

I ordered on the 28th of July so it'll definitely be interesting to see how things go...

I ordered on Sept 4th so I have a long way to go, got the order number and tracker is showing that the factory has the order
Anyway my order was:
- GTI Plus
- Solid White with Black Roof
- 18" Brescia
- Blind Spot Monitor
- Winter Pack
- Rear View Camera
- Parking Assist
- Climate Control
- Pre Crash
- Iron Dashboard
Dealer has estimated delivery at the end of January, which I'm doubting a lot but I'm in no hurry as long as I get it before summer.

I order a similar spec’d car at the end of January, and I haven’t even had a build week yet, so if your expecting yours by January I suspect your going to need a miracle

Yeah, I'm pretty certain is won't arrive in January

Dealers will say anything for a sale but I knew of the delays beforehand so like I said, before summer and i'll be happy.

Received a somewhat disappointing update this morning from the dealership.
I just wanted to give you a quick update, at the moment I’m still unclear about when your car is actually going to be built. I’ve pressed head office to get some guidance but they are equally unable to give me any time frame.
The only guide I can give you at the moment is that there are some Polo GTI+ models scheduled for build in February.
Truth be told I can’t see us getting your car this side of March 2019.
Nice to get an update, the person I've been dealing with has been great throughout and has apologised. Not sure how I'll proceed now.

My dealer just called me, vw have told him that the only model to pass wltp so far is the up gti of the performance cars, my car ordered in Jan is prob gonna come in around March earliest, so he's looking to get me an up and my Mrs can trade in her up beats buy a normal polo, I really wanted the cat but I think it's a bit beyond a joke now I will however be spec in the normal polo up quite a bit so it's still decent!

In previous years the GTI has appeared and available to order many months even a year after the standard model. In hindsight it would have been better to do that this time.

This post goes to show how many people are waiting for the delivery of their New 2018 Polo's. it's had 1242 posts and 63,458 views.
Myself, I'm loosing interest in my yet to be made Polo. my dealer has informed me, that I'll be seeing it before Christmas. I can see the annoyance of other members waiting for their Polo's, and when they ask questions from members who have their Polo's their information is very sketchy.
Three things that really stand out from this forum is,
1. The wipers have a good chance of juddering
2. The middle rear seat belt problem
3. Hand brake not working correctly.
The only member who has given good advice to other members is David Stark on consumer problems.
I've said it before, this forum will be a far better once the majority of members have their Polo's. At the moment it must be one owner members to 25 waiting members.
Soon this subject will pass the 100 post mark !!!

On a new car, these 3 points you quote are annoying but things that can and must be resolved quickly on a delivered car without affecting the remainder of its life - surely by now cars coming through will have these issues resolved before being handed over to their owner.
I could live with these annoyances very easily, but things like strange noises from engine and or gearbox with a new car would scare me quite a bit as I tend to keep cars for a useful length of time.

There's no way I could put up with the constant judder of the wiper blades every time I turn them on. Wipers have to work correctly and sweep clear every time.
The car I have now, I change my wiper blades every 6 months if needed or not, there is another person in the village who has my cast offs, and there the "Bosch" type, not the ordinary one the manufacturers fit.
Looking at another post a member has rejected his Polo on the grounds of rear seat belt, if that's the case, VW know they have a problem.
And as for all new cars having problems resolved, I'm not holding my breath. When I go in and collect my new Polo, and the rear seat belt has NOT been resolved, Even though I've been waiting since early May, I will reject it, and it won't be coming home with me, I've lost that much interest in the car. it will be worth spending the extra and getting some other car. It will also be a non European car, that's another reason.
