Re: Tim's GTD Thread FOR SALE VERY SOON
I turned to the darkside when I bought a diesel!!
I'm long gone.

With a bit of modifying you probably could, but that defeats the object of selling for a cheaper car!! I need to make some money to put towards a new cameraDub_Dan wrote:can you not upgrade the turbo on your 1.4 mate? would be nippy being the lightest diesel engine

Hi mate, was reading through your 'For sale' post, and you mentioned changing the rear axle, replacing drums for discs, just wondering if you had any info on were you got them and price etc?
Cheers

Black FTW!
simply the best
Great that you managed to keep alot of the parts from the 9N3, they can be stuck straight on the vRS

Yep, the intake and splitter are an absolute must, they should've been on it as standard. And I dont like the OE6N2 GTI 00 wrote:Black FTW!simply the best

Seats, it's pretty known they're a pain to keep clean, the GTi ones will look awesome in it!
I'm keen to find one this week, they're generally quite high milage cars though so it's tricky finding a really good one.

Re: Tim's GTD Thread FOR SALE
Yeah the standard seats in the vRS are very nice and comfortable but very difficult to keep clean, they show up every mark so changing them would be a good idea. I agree the splitter makes one hell of a difference visually.
If you can get a vRS with OE Xenon headlights then your onto a winner, they are pretty hard to find but look so much nicer than the standard light unit.
Similar to the 6N2 standard & GTI headlights in terms of styling improvement.
Finding a lowish mileage example will be difficult but those PD130 engines certainly will do the miles

Re: Tim's GTD Thread FOR SALE
Yeh factory xenons is on my wish list. But it seems each one I find with them either has too many miles of just too new and expensive! Really would love one with a set though, especially with the talk of new rules for the legality of retro-fit ones that seem to be floating about.

Re: Tim's GTD Thread FOR SALE
Yeah if you can get one with Xenons it would be a bonus really, I went on the Briskoda run to Castle Combes in 2009 & 2010 with my mate in his vRS which was brilliant, they perform really well on the track with the addition of a Rear ARB. In the line up there must have been 15+ vRS fabia's but his was the only one with factory Xenon's so I pressume they must be pretty rare, shame they were not standard like on the 6N2 GTI's.
My mate had his re-mapped to 173bhp & 300ft lbs of torque and it really did go well
PD160 intake, Seat Strutbrace, 312mm brakes, Rear ARB, Green cotton air filter and a Re-map and your onto a winner
they sit quite high from standard too so lowering springs or coilovers would be a good option.
Look forward to seeing your build thread mate

Re: Tim's GTD Thread FOR SALE
Tim, did you ever get around to getting this mapped before you sold it?
I'm curious to know what the 1.4's are like with 182lb/ft of torque (I think that's what they're mapped to, right?). Would it pull away from a 6n2 GTI? I'm at the stage now where I'm kind of struggling to afford to run the GTI and thinking about going back to diesel but would love something just as quick and a hell of a lot cheaper to run, insure and tax.

Re: Tim's GTD Thread FOR SALE
Ben - I'll be adding all the toys mate don't you worry!!
This week seems to have bloomed for cars in my range. Trying to narrow them down to viewing a few this weekend now.
They're great little cars, but I felt the effect of going from the GTi to this. I'd recommend a 4 cylinder diesel, less noisy and room to modify if you want.
The reason why I sold it was I came to a cross roads, it was either plough money into engine mods or sell it. The latter happened as I realised 3 cylinders were too restrictive for the power I was seeking.
A vRS or 100BHP version of the 9N3 may be suitable mate?

They remap to around 100BHP, not sure on torque figures off the top of my head.nigelelliott394 wrote:Tim, did you ever get around to getting this mapped before you sold it?
