not going to bother getting one from a breakers yard, I'm going to let vw retrofit do it at least the units they supply have no issues...

I am just about to use Satnav Systems to upgrade my headunit (from an 820 to an 842C) like you did.

Just wondered if yours is still working as new?
Have you had any issues?
others have mentioned about different coding and VIN numbers sometimes leading to issues. Did they sort all this coding for you as well?

This post has been super helpful! Although I'm heartbroken as I have the 3Q0035820A, mute button on bottom left and no app connect. My car however is a Polo TDI 65 plate, date of production December 2015 so late 2015. I'm guessing I will need the unit in the glove box changing if I want any kind of shot at getting car play if at all possible? Does anyone know roughly how much? I'm guessing somewhere not far off a grand? I think I can live without and stick with my phone for sat nav and Bluetooth for music lol

Guys, I've read everything on this thread and find myself in a confusing situation. I'm buying a a '66 reg Match and when I asked seller for head unit details this is what I got:

Device Part No. 3Q0035820 B (which apparently isn't compatible with App-Connect/Carplay?)
BUT the screen also shows "App-Connect" version!

What does this mean? Does it have App-Connect? Can I get Apple CarPlay? I'm so confused.. help!
