Yipee, getting mine fitted next Saturday...at 8.45am...!

Can't wait, hopefully it'll knock off a couple of seconds off my 0-60mph time...ha ha ha, as if!

If you have to change gear to hit your 60 (1st to 2nd I guess) then yes, it will make you faster to 60 :P but not by two seconds ha ha.

I have to wait until SEptember to get mine fitted :? d'oh!

Sport shifter arrived by DHL today!

Could someone tell me what the modification was to the shifter? (specific to the polo i believe?) I seem to remember it involved a hole and a split pin, but where was the hole drilled?

which bit is it meant to stop falling off?!

My kit "Arrived at DHL facility in East Midlands - UK as of: February 28, 2005 20:39" according to the DHL tracker service... so I'll have it in my grubby mitts first thing tomorrow morning by all accounts!

As for the modification...

This has a habbit of popping off with spirited gearchanges, so you have to drill a small hole and put a pin through it (one of those that you put through a hole and bend round so it won't come out).

That's the only thing that needs doing, otherwise, it's an easy job!

ah ok, that looks like its already done and covered in the instructions, if its the cotter pin. its the mention of the circlip that confused me to start with...

Oh yes. I've fitted it today and its fantastic. :lol:

It took me and one of my mates an hour and half and neither of us are brilliant mechanically. I came across a couple of problems but apart from that, it was a piece of cake to do. 8)

The Result: Shorter stick throw, feels like it clicks in better, and generally makes the car feel like a true sports car. I've al;ready taken it for a little spin and can't wait to give it a go against some Saxo's and 106's.

£148 has not been better spent, and fitting it myself saved me £80 and gives you a good feeling of self satisfaction. :D

I'd be than happy to help people fit theres if they want to meet up.

Yeah, sorry, I would have posting my response had I had it fitted, the guys at JBS fell ill and couldn't fit it in that Saturday. Not sure when I'll be able to make it in next, hopefully not long as I want it all ready for Inters!

M@Turner, was it that simple to install? Glad to hear that it makes such a difference!

Yeah, couldn't believe how easy it was. To be honest i was scared to do it at first, but then thought, what the hell, get it done. Everyone will be well impressed when its fitted.

Is the plastic Trim that surrounds the handbrake/gear stick easy to remove? it looks like it goes right up to the climate control

The plastic trim/centre console was the hardest bit to do. There's 2 torx screws (1 in each footwell) which need removing and then theres 2 other bolts which you need a 10mm wrench for which you can see when you remove the gater. After this, pull the trim upwards starting from the rear. There's then 2 clips which attach this to the part where your drink and tray part is. The Climate Control and cigarette lighter is attached to the bit you remove, but there's enough slack in the wire to move the trim far enough. I detached the climate control for ease of manouverability??SP

Sorry if you're lost with my description, i'm not very good at describing things, but it is very easy! 8)

I'll try and get some pics of just how little the stick now moves. Other than that it looks bog standard.
