Spotted in Auto Express this week, in their write-up for the new Polo:
So roughly the same performance as the 6n2 GTi, but a bigger powerplant under the bonnet! I would presume the GTI will be petrol powered only, as like the quote says, there is already a GT spec TDI model with the 130bhp powerplant. As with the Golf Mk5 GTI, I would expect a GTI model with one engine choice and options for trim and specs, like HID lights, bigger alloys, leather, winter pack etc etc in the same way the new Golf GTI has been marketed.Bosses at VW remain tight-lipped about future variants of the Polo, but our sources tell us engineers are busy preparing a hot new GTI. Powered by a 150bhp, 2.0-litre direct-injection FSI engine, the performance model should manage 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds and top 135mph. A £15,500 price tag is likely when it arrives at the end of the year. The polo GTI will slot in above the current flagship, the 130bhp GT TDI.
