i'd suggest that you upgrade brakes/suspension as well if you are going to do this conversion as i believe the poor old polo will end up on the first tree/wall/car/kerb/etc if you don't.

And as for upgrading other fings, ive looked at getting some g40 shocks and springs, and im sure that me little polo coupe can handle it, other wise i wouldnt do it

yep the first thing to remember in tuning up is that a bigger / more powerful engine does not allow you to corner any faster than the old one
wider/better grade tyres, uprated discs, remote servo, all that
has anyone stuck a valver in a mk3 yet, because the majority of mounting points etc should be the same, shouldn't they?

I'm sure someone somewhere has stuck a 16v in an early polo, but it wouldn't have been an easy job.. I believe it's very difficult to fit a tall block engine to a polo, which is why we only really see 800 - 1300cc engines. If anyone knows an easy way to fit a tall block, let me know, I have great plans for a golf gtd turbo diesel conversion

there is a lad who has a 200bhp+ 1.4 16v in a mk3
they are still the small block engine

Oh, sorry, I'm thinking of 16v as in mk2 golf gti 16v, not polo 1.4 16v.
