oh dont get me wrong

the micra they gave me had 80 miles on the clock

its now pushing 500 miles (since last wednesday morning, no idea where i've been to clock that many miles up)

and i've given it some stick
oh aye

had it on the rev limiter in every gear

and looned it around the hills near my house

but its really not fun to drive fast

your doing 70
and you touch the brakes

you dive forward, your chins on the steering wheel
and your still doing 68 mph....

i'll give you fifty quid if you manage to roll it within the speed limit but without hitting the kerb... (with aftermath pics) Think: Merc A-Class Elk Test.

disclaimer: i didn't actually just say that. you just imagined it.

mind you i must admit the last time i was a back seat passenger in a micra it felt like sitting on a really quite frightening plate of jelly.. the driver didnt take kindly to the comment even though it was his mums car and we haven't had a lift off him since! :D (bit thin skinned)

one of my mates got in the back and within 2 minutes he said "ok feeling sea sick now"

its really strange actually

breaking sends you flying forwards - but cornering it doesnt seem to roll as bad.
but thats maybe cos i'm driving and have the wheel to hold on to.

one thing that does scare me, is if you jiggle the steering wheel, it feels like your gonna topple the car - i'm sure the elk tesk would topple the car

suppose it comes from being built in a country where the speed limit is 100kph maximum, the cities (which its designed for) are all 40kph and horridly congested, and the maintenance is surprisingly bad... (are they still built on wooden foundations in tokyo?) ... you'll be wanting enormous wheel travel and as much "comfort" as can be crammed into a tiny space, then, rather than cornering ability.

Spafe

I had one of those new style Micras for a day after my car got rear ended 18 months ago.

I didn't find it too much of a nightmare to drive, even if it was slow as f**k and handled like cack. The cabin's well built too, problem is you'll be driving along thinking "it's not bad in here" then you see another one go past and realise what an ugly car you're behind the wheel of and it ruins the experience.

It's wierd driving at night and being able to see the sidelights from the driver's seat though!
