Just do what I do, abstain from make and model conversations with the opposite sex.
Female friend of mine asked me what car I was driving tonight, I just said "The heap" and we left it at that.
She explained to me a while ago what cars I have:
The heap: The Mk2
The new heap: The GT
The four-wheel thing: Either of my kit cars, she can't tell them apart, don't think she realises they're two different cars.
The other one: The Escort
Don't think she knows I have a 309 as well, better not confuse matters.

to be fair the mk1 does have a bit of an original fiesta feel to it (the *really* old festas) ... still a bit of a hoopy mistake what with the shiny VW badge and all though!
"the four wheel thing"

lol...... and how many wheels do the other cars have?
i think im quite lucky in that my mum, aunt, and the female friends who care to take notice that i even have a driving license can tell their polos from their astras, pandas, escorts, puntos, 25s...... etc.. its only my nan seems to differentiate cars purely on a colour basis (but then she's got at least two very valid excuses, and is still with it enough to recognise - oh, blue car this week? wasnt that broken?).

having moved from a smart city coupe (usually know as a girls car) to my polo, dont get so manyboy racers laughing or trying to race me in mummy fiesta or corsa!!
but they all got shocked at next set of lights,it was pretty quick for a 700cc turbo six speed gear sequential gear box with manual mode with remap bring it up to a respectable 84bhp, stated to get some respect after, but u still had ppl trying it on most of the time
would have enother one but only one spare seat! fun to drive
go to local dealer a try one out bring a big smile to your face
but did get a lot of stick for having one, til they had a go

theres this one guy in my work that slags me nearly every day for having a polo , ''thats a womans car '' he says. ''anything under a 1.8 is a womans car, what do you want to go and spend money on alloys, tinted windows and lowering springs for, cos when you go to sell that car the old women wont want to buy it............''bla bla bla and so he goes on and on at me!!

and i get pissed off and dont know what to say to him. he drives a cavi and its a wreck!

i hate having to explain what kind of car i drive. most lads around my way have got mummy and daddy to buy them 106 quiksilvers and saxo vtr's. i now don't say what year or model of polo it is, because its not as new as the saxo or 106 you automatically get looked down at. don't even strart on trying to explain how a supercharger works

"is it as fast as a turbo" (when they don't even know what a turbo does!!)
Makes me smile when i can pull away from their chavved up cars in my 13 year old g

That's why I've bought a Polo GTi, they look pretty tough IMO, you don't see many Polo GTi's about whereas Saxo's, Corsa's etc are 2 a penny

They do look good IMO
Less than 4000 were registered in the UK during the 6nF's production between '99 and '01

compared to
lots more Corsas, Saxos, Fiestas and so on.
