mkone wrote:The one you've seen for £6499 isnt at Chartoak Motors in Wilmslow by any chance is it? If it is I went by to have a look the other weekend for a nosey, looks like its had some hammering all the leather was worn off around the steering wheel and had an above average mileage (around 60k i think) for a 51 plate.

These guys keep on getting GTi's in as they know all too well they sell like hotcakes, was thinking about trading mine in simply cause they'd give me a high trade-in, just my 2 cents worth. Good luck on finding one!
Yes it is! I know its been there a few weeks. When i phoned up the guy said it had 40,000 miles, FVWSH, 1 owner and was in good condition! Would you avoid it then?

Im no mechanic so can't pass judgement, sorry bout the mileage thought it said 60. Just I've seen better looking examples in the past. I wouldn't pay more than £5.5k for it, as I said the steering wheel looked well weathered to say the least. Go down and have a look and a drive see what you think.

it all depends on what you class as being important in the car... when i went to see the one i bought, it was grubby, dusty inside, scratches on the rear bumper where someoen had loaded something in the boot, alloys needed doing, but, i knew it hadn't been hammered, and it was the lowest mileage i'd seel, full vwsh, so i bought it the next day, polished and polished it, had the wheels redone, cleaned it loads, and i love it, yeh it has some scratches, but what 4 yr old cars dont? if it don't feel right when you look at it then walk away...

the amount of polos i looked at where the dealers said they were in good condition, i was shocked, wasted journeys because as soon as i walked up to the car and saw the scratches i knew i didnt class it as good condition - but they did(!)

I'm torn now! :? Also just found another one that is from a vw approved dealer. Sounds all good but wouldn't be able to go see it until the weekend - guy said i could put a deposit down now though and if i saw it and didn't want it for any reason the refund would be given back.

That's 1 good thing about buying from a VW dealer, I got 12 months warranty/break down cover, plus they serviced it and valeted it.

Pondering what to do now. Guy said i could give a deposit to 'hold' the car for me until i could come and see it (over 3 hours away). I think i'd need written confirmation that i would get it back if i didn't buy it though. He said i would do when i spoke to him but wouldn't take any chances.

Just phone them again, get some more info and if it still interests you (and they've still got it) make a decision from there :D

Just got mine

Post by Reeyad »

I just purchased mine, been looking 4 abt a 2 months found a good 1 a bit over my budget, £6499, but fo the price its a very good buy.

Its from a VW dealer, 1 owner, 32,000 miles X Reg 2000 5 door black, full vwsh all recalls taken of, and they are refurbishing the wheels.

Just sold my mk4 polo dragon green 5dr full vwsh, its a rare atlanta model, had the olympics badge on the boot.

CANT WAIT.....

Will pick up next saturday...............

The only thing is if I mod it this will invalidate my warrentee so have to wait a year.

All i wanna do is drop it, full exhaust and bmc induction.
