The best deals are not with these large companies but with all the small companies.

Anything that advertise on tv will be expensive.

My polo's insurance with Trident Insurance is only £232.00 Fully Comp. But obviously with each indivudual it will be different.

Phone around!

Try http://www.confused.com. It will give you a target to work against.

As for that stupid Quotemehappy advert thats got to be the worst one of all.

I found when i took out my insurance for my Polo 5dr 1.0 is that when i said i was working at a bank (which i am now), the quote was halved!

Apparantly being employed affected the quotes i received quite a fair bit with lots of companies.

And like someone said, the small companies will offer better prices. And the companies that specialize in insuring young drivers often have some competitive quotes i've found.

Always shop around, and take out the insurance on your name to start building up your no claims, in my opinion ... it pays off in the long run.

Occupation does make a difference

Recently a article in Autoexpress magazine showed how much of a difference made Between A Shop Assistant and a Cashier the difference was something like 20% being a Shop Assistant.

Really need to look at the Autoexpress Website.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk

Can't remember when the article was written but guessing September/October.

One thing I found is that you can expect to pay about £25-£50 more if you own a polo over say a Fiesta or Clio.

For what reason is insurance for the 16v expensive? Im 18 1 yr nc and had an insurance quote for the gti for £1300. I had a quote (same company) for the 16v and it was also £1300!

GTi is group 12 mate.

Who was that quote with Urz, I'm 19 (no ncb because I was a named driver on the last policy) and I was quoted £1800 which is what I took up.

I only know because I have to pay the price

Still, it's worth every penny :D

VW parts are generally more expensive though, in the event of an accident etc.

Still, IMO the 16v Polo should be group 7 or 8 max.

The quote was from bell.co.uk as was the 16v. It worked out cheaper as my mum was a named driver.

Me and my 16V is also on Trident.

think its £745 TPFT for a 23 year old with 2 years no claims doing 10,000 miles a year with £250 excess (i think)

I also tried Adrian Flux. Norwich Union, Lombard Direct are always well expensive.

But.

With companies like Trident, theres no courtesy cars or anything. If you get bumped you gotta sort out quotes for repairs yourself etc. -they dont mamby pampby you like the bigger isurance companies do
