Well i had a few problems contacting him. He seemed to be ignoring, i waited patiently, called him a few times. then started to politely threaten him to go through insurance. Eventually i had to pay a visit to his house and spoke to him in person. He said he will cough up anything upto £700, otherwise he wants to go through insurance too. Ill be gettting a quote from VW in a little while today.

Basically having inspected the car myself i see that the inner grey trim panel in the boot has bulged inwards. This was causing trouble to lift the carpet up as it got stuck behind the chipboard backing the carpet has. The well looks okay, but i havent removed the wheel, will do so. The bumper seems to have shifted upwards.

As for the boot light, by giving the bootlid more force it closed flush and the boot light is now gone

I think its just the bulge in and the fact that its shifted upwards why the bootlid is having problems. Im going to mention the suspension too, however im getting a blowing noise from the exhaust too. Sort of like a whistle. Ill get all that checked and see what VW put on their quote. Let you guys know whats going on once i get it.

Alright guys, right basically i went to VW to get a quote. VWs bodyshop has a guy who does VWs in another Coachwork company. He said they use original parts only, so i assume this should be okay??!? I thought VW have their own bodyshop guy? this guy has his own part in the VW showroom but works for a company called Acton Coachworks - http://www.acton-coachworks.co.uk/page/actoncoachworks, I guess hes probably approved by em i hope!

They chap was very helpful and friendly. He told me to save the fuss and go through insurance!!! He told me that as I was NOT at fault and the third party claims full liability, convince him to go through insurance, where he phones his company, says he hit into me and declares that its his fault. He has to pay access and I have my car done, AND get a courtesy car from his insurance company. The vw bodyshop guy said he will sort out the claim which takes a week with the third partys insurance company, and my car should be done within 3-4 days hopefully back to original!

Basically he said he will sort the claim. the third party told me to phone my company and tell them that im claiming through his insurance and not mine (just as a notification) the VW bodyshop guy said he'll sort this out, but i thought i should for re-assurance.

He said he will get everything done. I also told him about the creaking suspension (which werent to do with this as its a common fault) and he said he will sort all that out too, including any stonechips anywhere too (if they can find any )

I think ive done the right thing now Other guy werent to happy, but who cares, cos he loses 20% of his no claims and the charge of my access goes to him! (he should have thought of that b4 running into a f*****g idle vehicle )

Exactly, if he didn't like it that's tough sh*t, as you say he should have been paying more attention.

Any accident where the Injured Party is hit from behind, even if you brake check them it's classed as their fault.

I think most VW body work is done by approved bodywork companies using genuine parts, rather than VW having their own bodyshop, well thats what it is like arround my way!

Originally meant to be done three days after the claim, the car got delayed to a week and finally got it back after two weeks

Picked it up to find that the bumper was sprayed to a perfect match. However, the towing eyes rubbery coating had little blobs removed, and had created a few scratches on the rear quater panels. The edge of the rear bumper of both sides was scuffed, and looked like it was chucked in in a rush as the edges had chipped off paint and the arches had a bit of this too, even though it was intact even after the accident. My wheels were also curbed too. Quality work from VW eh?!?

Its going back to them once again, wish i just used a insurance companys recommended repairer, even if it meant voiding the warranty
