Mines is a 2000 X plate with 63k on it now, in the 4 years I have had it other than the usual pedal box and lucky escape from a knackered water pump its had a new set of clocks as the speedo was starting at 25mph, indicator stalk and the starter motor cleaned as it was sticking.
Don't think its too bad for the mileage, will need some new shocks soon as a back one is starting to leak probaly just put on some coilovers on it if I decide to keep the car another year.

Well in theory if that DVLA chart is anything to go by, anything after September 2001 should be a 51.

Just did the RAC check on my own car and it came up with :-
Manufacturer VOLKSWAGEN
Model POLO GTI
Body type 3 DOOR HATCHBACK
Colour SILVER
Fuel type PETROL
Date manufactured 01 March 2000
Number of previous owners 1
Last owner change 15 August 2005
and i only just passed 51k miles
tried the same search with my new private plate but it came up with no results!? its been on since new year!

I was thinking about getting T11 DUB or L10W VW?

I wanted H15 DUB (his Dub) or H20 DUB (H
2O as in watercooled) but sadly both are unavailable everywhere that I've checked
Alternative is S2 VWW - same format then as the VW press cars, a lot of their plates are letter, number, then VWW. G3 is on a Golf at the moment IIRC.
Private 'plates are cool, unless they've been really badly spaced or buggered about with to spell something totally different (don't worry Grum yours is fine!)

I agree, I think I manage to pull mine off pretty well.
This would be a good one if you could get away with it

Press car sounds plausable or might be like a demo / final road proto / tester hmm
or just a super early one, one of the remaining non-written off batch lol
