Aww, cheers  I'll definately stick around - the scirocco scene seems a bit quiet from what I've found so far (obviously there aren't really many of them around any more..) so I could do with a lively VW community like this ;)
I think I may have found a buyer for the polo, she's a friend of mine so it won't be going far away.. still sad to part with it, but at least this way I know it'll be going to someone I trust not to thrash it and scrap it.

I'll let you know.. should be picking it up this afternoon, although apparently the fuel pump's just become extremely noisy so it may have to wait if he can't get that repaired this morning :? Fingers crossed though :D

Indeed, as you posted that I was standing in the freezing cold at Sandwich station waiting for the seller to come pick me up
I've got the rocco now though - wow! What a car. Everything about it (other than the wheel alignment which insisted on dragging me off into the central reservation the entire way home..) is immaculate. Not a spot of rust on the car, the bodywork is pristine, the engine is phenomenal (1.05 polo -> 1.8i scirocco is one hell of a leap, I found it impossible to hold a steady speed on the motorway as every little twitch of the throttle sent me hurtling away at silly speeds  ). Whilst I still regret not bringing out the full potential of the polo with a GT engine etc, I don't regret getting the rocco at all, it's fantastic

nice to hear GC, i don't think i'd be brave enough to buy a car on ebay and be relying on it to drive me like 150 miles home, especially since the guy had told you he had a few probs that he hopes he could fix before you arrived

scirocco is definetely on my list of cars that i wanna own in my lifetime, anyone know what kindof performance you get in a 1.8 scirocco e.g bhp, 0-60 and top speed?
