The answer to number 3, is that it's a motion detector.

Basically if someone is in the car and it's alarmed, them moving will set the alarm off, if you turn it off then they can move around as much as they want and the alarm won't go off.

One thing I forgot to say is, welcome to the elite part of the forum :lol:

If it's off the little light on the button will be on, if it's on then the light will be off.

you can get the battery anywhere - its just a normalish flat one

Battery is a cr2016, you can get them from most camera shops, halfords, partco etc. They're about a quid.

To get to the battery you have to first 'snap' the key in half by holding the vw emblem in one hand and the blade in the other. Rock and pull the two pieces apart. Once apart you'll then see two little lugs which need lifting out of there grooves and the transponder splits in two. You'll then see the battery.

Nice car too, wish mine was silver, bored of black!
